Can any scale model company manufacture Ferrari scale models (model/design >30years old)
    See this http://www.ippt.eu/files/2007/IPPT20070125_ECJ_Opel.pdf
In Europe you loose the model rights after 30 years, not the trademark

Many times we read on the boxes: produced under license xxxxxx
The body designs of the XXXXX cars are protected as XXXXXX property under design, trademark etc

Some quit, some still make small series of Ferrari scale models with all logos/badges

Who can shine a light on this matter?

Its the amount you make I believe. Anything under 200 copies considered art. Everything over is considered mass-produced and needs to be licensed.

They did produce pre 1984 Ferraris and actually many of them. As a matter a fact, IMO the very best that the Elite line ever made were their 410 Superamerica and 250 California models.
