At Chantilly on 14/9 I spoke briefly with Tavares during the catered lunch because his restoration workshop in Portugal, Roda Classica, had done rather unimpressive work on a friend's Khamsin and he immediately remembered my letter, which of course he had not answered and he made no comment about the work either. Then I asked him about Maserati's future being good and he just answered in a very optimistic tone "Oh yes I believe so."

Coincidentally we were given a rental Volvo by Hertz for that trip, funnily enough it was actually the first time ever I, half Swedish, drove a Volvo -I preferred Saab;-)- and it was fine but bland like so many modern cars. Starting via button, located where the ashtray would be, that you twist was bizarre but other than that it was fine.

ok 1st the author of the article looses credibility when he states that Geely owned Jaguar. This is completely false, jaguar went from ford directly to Tata. 2nd he’s congflating a story where the Italian government is considering offering defunct Italian brands (Innocenti and Autobianchi) to the Chinese for production in Italy. 3rd the Modenese would block it. Look at what happened when DeTomaso tried to sell off the factory historic Maseratis cars (thank you Panini family) 4th Maserati still has many ties to Ferrari’s infrastructure, there is no way Ferrari would let a Chinese company gain access to it. 5th the decision will be made by 1 man the Chairman of Ferrari who also happens to be the Chairman of Stellantis. John Elkann. Period end of discussion .

McLaren were sold to a middle eastern something or another. I would think that would be more likely. China seems to have more problems than they know what to do with now.

I remember when the first deign drawings of the 3200 emerged. There was even an online website run by Ital Design that would let you interactively suggest design changes to the car and see (somewhat) how the car would look.
I think this before DeTomaso sold to Fiat.

There’s at least one black 4200 in the Netherlands very nicely converted to boomerang rear lights. It is not a cheap endeavour by all accounts. Each unit runs something like £1500 these days, before body and paint. It does look great though!!

What Maserati’s Classiche dept should do, is make shorter versions of the lights that don’t require cutting into the trunk. A plug and play unit that would simply swap out the current lights for the shorter boomerang. Sold only through and installed by-the dealer network. Treat it as a customer pay recall upgrade which wouldn’t effect it’s Classiche originality status.

The Haas Maserati link is a six or seven year speculation or project that never became reality. Just Google it.

Maserati probably currently doesn’t have the money to produce the sticker to go on the car yet alone pay for the sponsorship

In the news today Mr Carlos Tavares, president of Stellantis, mother company of Maserati, leaving with immediate effect following a heated management meeting yesterday...one of the most powerful automotive directors... no more. He will "only" get about 30 M Euros severance pay...

One wonders what the future will bring...

Here he is third from left, by Khamsin AM120-202 a few years ago in his own workshop Roda Classica in his native Portugal, his hobby company.

John Elkann, the Agnelli family Fiat owner heir, will assume temporary command until a replacement president is appointed.

From what I read he realised he was loosing control and his ideas were no longer popular with the board, mainly with point man John Elkann. It was between them, the Peugeot family board members did not intervene.

If I could get a 30million severance pay, I would yell, make a scene and walk out this afternoon!

I did. Doesn't help with the paywall. And strangely doesn't translate the paywall page, which pops up so quickly I can't even read the translated headline.
