The 2005 Ferrari-Maserati Challenge Weekend at Lime Rock Park, CT will be on July 8 & 9 this year. In the past FMNA has extended certain courtesies to current owners of Ferrari & Maserati cars. For example, last year we were given free admission & an opportunity to drive the new Maserati. Does any one whether a similar offer will be extended to owners this year? Also, is there a particular contact person within FMNA that we should get ahold of to advise of our interest in attending this event? Thanks

    MK,

There is no question, the event will happen. You should definately bring your two cars, the more the better. If you take the CS on the track, I must get some pictures.

    Karc & SPH,

Glad to see you will make the trip. I plan to stay Thursday - Sunday. We stay in nearby Great Barrington, it has some nice restaraunts and shops to check out. Let me know your plans....

Below are pics of the hotel in G.B., and the beautiful mountains of Lime Rock

    Enzo,

Its about a 20 minute drive from the track, but Great Barrington, MA has some incredible dining. "Verdura" is amazing. Their Steak is the best that I have ever enjoyed, so much so that I had it two nights in a row. The atmosphere is very upscale, yet completely laid back at the same time. I almost look forward to dining @ Verdura more than the Ferrari event itself..... Almost..........

I hate even thinking about this event in February, as it makes me dislike winter even more. Looks like another storm on Thursday. July can not get here soon enough....

XCLEANTR--where is the best place to stay in Great Barrington. Im not real concearned about rates as I have found that you get what you pay for when staying in a hotel. Also where do you live on the south shore? I live in norwell.

I just wanted to let everyone know my dad is a travel agent and he knows some fabulous places in the area. if there is enough interest he can book a group rate and book everyones room next to eachother. he can also reserve some conference rooms if there would be interest in a formal dinner. let me know what everyone thinks and ill PM you with his work number etc. I was asking him about places today and he told me there is a nice place near limerock on 2 lakes and an indoor pool and nice dining area.

    Jake,

I believe that I met you at the YuppieRacing Early AM meet in Boston. Your 355 is beautiful. Nice to see a fellow South Shore F owner on the board. I live in Braintree, and my shop is in Weymouth. My other shop at Shaw Saab just moved to Norwell last week. Its a nice area. Once the show is gone, we should take the cars for another run, perhaps RT 3 or RT 24.

I agree, you do get what you pay for when staying at a hotel. The past four Lime Rock events that I attended, I have stayed at the Days Inn in Great Barrington. Their rates are reasonable if I remember. I think I paid $500 for three nights. Thursday night was cheaper than Friday and Saturday. Most accomodations in G.B. are of the "Bed & Breakfast" type. The Days in is more of a Motel. I am sure that you could find nicer accomodations that are closer to the track. I have heard that the Interlaken Inn is mere minutes from the track, and very upscale. That is where most of the racers stay. I like Great Barrington for its dining, and my girlfriend likes the shops and boutiques there. There is also a movie theather. I dont spend a lot of time in the room, with all that is going on at the track. All I want is a nice clean room to sleep and shower, with Cable TV. The Days Inn fits this criteria perfectly, and it is walking distance from my favorite restaraunt, Verdura. The only downside is the 20 minute drive to the track, but I actually view that as a bonus. That equals more time spent behind the wheel of the Testarossa on some beautiful winding country roads. That simply can't be beat. I plan to book my room in May, as last year I waited until late June, and got the last available room in the motel. If you are looking for Five Star accomodations, do not stay at the Days Inn. But for all that the town of Great Barrington has, it works well.

xcleantr- My office is almost across the street from you in accord park about 2 doors down form the Volvo Dealership. You did a great job with the old Subie joint (and it doesnt hurt to be next to Strawberry Fair if you need a snack). That place was vacant for quite sometime, Im glad someone spruced it up nice. Check Yuppieracing events, were getting together at my joint on the 19th and your invited!

    Enzo,

I agree, Shaw Saab did a wonderful job transforming the old Subaru Dealership into a top - notch facility. I believe that they will see a definate increase in business due to the new location.

Thanks for the invite to your party! I am scheduled to work that day, but checking out your 355 sounds like more fun. I will try to change my schedule, hopefully I can join the festivities....Check out my website, www.TheXtremeClean.com

    Enzo,

We can remove the window tint from your 355. Does the rear window have a heating element? If it does, this could pose a problem in removing the tint. My TR has no heating element, and I am guessing that the 355 does not either.

The price depends upon how much time the job is going to take, and how easily the tint is removed. A high quality window film can be removed easily, a cheaper grade of film will splinter into many pieces, and takes much longer to properly remove. I would be happy to take a look at the car, and give you an estimate.

Hopefully, my schedule will permit me to attend your party this saturday, I could look at the car then. If not we can schedule a time that is convenient for you.

    Thanks again,

    Alex
