Noto, since Emil is not doing the video shot no more...do you have a different photographer that's going to do the shot? Also, I assume they have a door person looking over our cars, right? It's going to be pouring (not raining) tonight and it's gonna take a lot of persuasion for people to drive out their cars. I don't mind driving out mine, but I don't want to be the only car there.
I will bring mine, but I can't imagine any of the pictures will be very good in the deluge they are predicting.
Clyde, as a fellow 308 owner, maybe you could allay my fears a bit here. I tend to think exposing our cars to that much rain is a pretty bad idea. I know they won't melt, of course, but I think the newer ones are better in the rain (more plastic and carbon fibre, whereas ours are much more steel --which can rust, unless of course you have a fiberglass 308). What do you think? If the car is dried of by-hand once parked and only sees rain 3-4 times a season, is that an acceptable risk rust-wise or is that a problem?? (Of course, drying off the outside of the car only does so much -- can't reach the underside, crevices etc...) The fact that you're bringing yours gives me some comfort but I just thought I'd get your view on it...
Most folk don't like getting their ferrari wet. Read the tech sections and you will hear about draping plastic over the engines while washing, sponge baths only, leaf-blower drying. Hmmmm. Pop the hood. Look at the rubber-covered caps & other protectants. The engine was designed to be exposed to some water. Rain doesn't cancel too many races that these cars were designed to participate in. The 308 is also known for rust in certain spots. It happened to me, but you get it fixed when rust crops up. Though you can take great pains to keep it out of the rain (Rehan??? ), it's impracticle to save it from NJ high humidity of 80%+ (A dehumidifier running 24/7 in the garage didn't help in my case). Yes, gaskets are old, dried-out & leak. You get them fixed when you find them. My windshield needs this very treatment. In a nutshell, I'm a believer in driving your car & taking care of it. I'll be there, rain or not.
Cabriolet owners face a different problem: it's the DRIVER getting wet. If I open my Mondi door in the rain, water cascades from the top right down the side onto my leg and the seat.
When my wife reminded me that tonite is a wedding we HAVE to attend i was upset. I hope you have another one in fall like you did last year. Personally, i think they should be monthly. sorry Nip, cant make this one. I hate weddings. Especially when I dont know a soul thats going. Cant even take the car cause of the weather. Nothings working for me!
Guys and Gals, the photoshoot and the party are going to happen, rain or shine. FYI: The photographer's website is: http://www.udospreitzenbarth.com/home.html I will bring my 355 Spider, rain or no rain. I fully understand if any of you do not show bc of the rain, but this is still happening and the models, the photographer and, at the very least, a blue 355 Spider will still be there
And Buzz is thinking: "Just means more models for the Mondi" Having just driven through torrential downpours at 40mph in the fast lane on 287 I was having seconds thoughts about bringing the 308. But if Noto's 355 is going to be there, so is my 308 Dave, what is the time the shoot starts?
What time is "early"? If we're on the list of cars you posted, what time is safe to arrive for a spot (with the rain I'm thinking it won't be a huge problem anyway but let me know). Thanks!
Negotiating through a deal that will probably go through much of this evening. May not be able to make it this. Bummed. - Will know in a bit.
Can't confirm m attendance yet there's still several prohibiting factors.. If I'm unable to show, I hope you guys have a gerat time!
Hahahah you got it ! Well, that and I'm STILL barely making sense and slurring my words. Exhaustion is a wonderful thing. Gotta get up at 5am again . Gnite boys, have fun!
Just got home...great times! Nice to put a few new faces to names. It was a nice turnout consider how sh!tty the weather is. The drive back was a major pain in the 430. I can barely see 10 feet in front of me. Hope everyone got home safely. Notoboy: thanks for the hook up. NipTuck, your lady friends are a riot - can't believe I missed out on the body shot. Jason Choi, your 430 is HOT in silver.
Look, Look, Look. I'm doing a Noah at 3:00am. Just rolled in from the Preost hookup. Dang! I roll in EC style at 12:30am and most of youse is gone! One Black 308, One FordGT, One blue 355, one Z06, one red 308 (me) and a M5 I believe were all that were left. Still great seeing those that hung around. Major Kudos to Noto for the hookup. Emil, you find the most amazing women. Ooops...Does Keri still read FChat? The models that I saw were very tall, very slender, 4" heels minimum, and gorgeous. Where was Noah? Or were we one model short? And the women at the club were VERY nice. Very nice. And every girlfriend I saw arm & arm with FChat guys were very pretty. emilie, did you make it? Nip, thanks for the hookup. Elisle had a blast when we went drifting around the block. People were actually clapping & the police didn't bother us. The HH wasn't too swift going home. It's still flooded. But at least my undercarriage is clean. Hope to do this again real soon.
Thanks for such a good time guys. I enjoyed meeting y'all, and hope to see you guys soon again. Pchop: you know my #, let's all meet up sometime. I know you guys hate New jersey, but you guys have an open invite to come over. Ciao
