As this is my second post in one day, I shall try and make it interesting, and not overly strenuous on myself nor you at this time of night. On occasion there appears to be no thought filter between my brain and typing fingers, still, here’s to trying:

Thinking back over the time with my now dearly departed F355 and also the thread where poor Omegasteve blew his chances with a display of one lensed sunglasses. Does anyone have any amusing / very annoying at the time yet highly amusing to everyone else Ferrari moments they’re willing to share.

Mine has to be curbing both offside wheels quite badly, taking them to be refurbished loading them carefully into the back of Foxys car, driving really slowly home to avoid anything knocking/touching the now beautiful paintwork lifting the wheel carefully out of the car, turning around and then for reasons known only to God let go of the wheel, the slow motion replay would have me grabbing at the tyre like a butter fingered reject from the schools second cricket team causing it to spin… yep you’ve guessed it freshly painted face down onto a stone covered driveway. That was a bit annoying.

The wheel refurbisher thought I was *so* cool, he didn’t even laugh at my face, just shook his head as he swiped my card... again.

    Regards,
    Cal

I remember the door closing on my leg, whilst I was getting out at Tesco's, doing my best to look cool and calm - flippin' hurt that did, ended up with a bruised and cut shin! :(

I also remember going to wave out the window at a friend, forgetting that it was shut. Ended up head-butting the thing and breaking my Oakleys which were on my head at the time - again, not so cool after all...

I had just washed and waxed the car. Was wearing a very old frail pair of shorts, no top - it was a hot day.

Got in the Mondial to move it, parked it up, just as the smokingly hot young woman who lives up the road was walking past.

She looked over at me, smiled, and starts to cross the road for a chat.

Opened the door, started to get out, handbrake failed to drop down to the floor, got my shorts caught on the end .....

    *rip*

I fall on the driveway next to the car, minus shorts, which have ripped completely off. Young lady bursts out laughing and walks on by. Whenever she and her friends now see me they dissolve in giggles - obviously word has spread :-(

Do not believe the myth of the pulling power of exotic cars. It is a lie.

    Cheers,
    TOM

October 03. Had the car for 3 weeks. Meet nice f-chatty people on first ever drive out. 4 minutes in to drive out clip a motorbike (who was being a muppet and overtaking me while I was overtaking someone else) who zooms off leaving me changing the wheel which has been wrecked. Limp home with space saver on. Groovy.

I'd only had mine for a couple of weeks and was trying to look dead cool in a petrol station, returning to my car having just paid for petrol.

It was full of people at the time with some cute chicks looking in my general direction so casual as you like I opened the door and sat down.

It was at that point that I remembered that I'd bought a LHD and the steering wheel was on the other side of the car :(

I hope you fumbled in the glovebox for a minute, pulled a random item out proclaiming "so that's where it was!" before returning to the driver's side? :)

My silly moment goes back to when I hired a ferrari 6 years ago.

It was winter (my birthday) and the roads were damp.

I had lots of fun driving about and it was now the day before I was due to return the car.

I decided to go for a little blast and record the moment.
I placed my friend at the top of the road with a video camera. I went around the block, planning to be filmed pulling out of the side turning, driving up the road and past the camera (so the sound woud be captured too).

Nobody had warned me about rear wheel drive and what they can do on a damp road.

I pulled out of the side turning and lost the back end, the car went snaking up the busy road, with me fighting to regain control. I have no idea how I did not hit any cars on the other side of the road.

To my shame, part of the incident has been caught on camera, you can see the car heading for the wrong side of the road and a row of brake lights appear...lol

At the time it really scared me and I did not go out in the car for the rest of the day.

It taught me not to mess about in rwd cars (which helped when I later owned a rwd car).

Looking back now, I think it was funny and that I was very lucky.

    I know how you feel!

Because you're female, in a rather nice car, you're almost always guaranteed to be under observation of the nearest male in a "fast" car.
This immediately premotes the male to "driving god status" and you to nothing, because; "a little lady like you can't possibly know what you're doing with that thing".
This then makes me all flustered when they start trying to race you in their Impreza or whatever and you cock up the gears, and start having rather rapid visions of pistons dramatically flying out the back!
Man drives off victorious & wallowing in the glory that he beat a girl in a Ferrari, because they can't drive them very well at all*....

    Foxy x

*Thankfully that hasn't happened since my tuition at Silverstone (thank you again, Dave!!) :D

    Great stories.

Not a F car story, but anyway......when I had my TVR I stopped to fill up with juice. Now anyone who has had a Rover engined V8 TVR might know of the common hot start problem, where the starter gets cooked over time by the engine heat and hence needs to cool (for ~10-15mins) before it will restart.

.....I spy a nice lady walking across the petrol station forecourt, as I jump back into the car after paying. I prime the fuel pump, turn the key.......nothing.....frantic key twisting....not a sausage. I see the lady walking back towards her car and had to ask her to give me a hand to push the car away from the pumps due to the queue forming behing me. Of course 10 mins later it fired up perfectly.
