What can you guys tell me about this MOMO Ferrari F1 steering wheel display I just bought on eBay? I remember seeing similar items in Momo showrooms when I was young in the 1980s and the listing said it was a promotional display piece. I also remember seeing one in the background of Tim "The Tool Man" Taylor's Tool Time set on the Home Improvement sitcom.

Supposedly it's a replica of a Ferrari F1 steering wheel from the early 1980s and is housed in a frame with a MOMO plaque beneath it. Looks similar to some of the wheels used on the 126 series F1 cars to me, but does anyone know for sure? Anyone else own one? Ideas as far as value? I just bought it to compliment my collection and have no intentions of selling it on, but feel that for $104, I got a fair deal and a cool piece of 1980s Ferrari/MOMO automobillia.

It used to be available in the Momo stores many years back. I think you got a good deal for the wheel. It looks nice!

    $104????

You killed 'em man! Good score!

Check with Morry at CollectorStudio in Canada for a current market value.....

You done good IMO. You'd pay that $$ in framing, my experience......

Yeah, I've actually got a few items I've been meaning to run by Morry so I'll have to do that soon. Funny you mention the cost of framing... I was thinking the same thing. It's gotta cost at least as much to frame something like this than the total amount I paid for it.

Anyway, it's very cool to me as I so vividly remember wanting one as a child.

That was a huge score...I could not buy that framed plexi unit wholesale for less than $200....without the wheel inside!
Few people are looking for that particular wheel but I believe it used to sell for $250 in the back of Road & Track in the early 90s. Current value in an overpriced gallery like mine would be about $350 :)

Morry, I pulled out a couple old Road and Track magazines and lo and behold... there was a full-page advertisement! Looks like it started off retailing for $250 in the late eighties and moved up to $300 by 1990. Very cool to have an original advertisement to go along with it!

Thanks for all the info on the wheel, I appreciate everyone's comments!

You are welcome...if you bag another one let me know!

I have three MOMO wheels of course, but I use them, to make left and right turns! ;)

    Happy Holidays, Morry!

My framer has gone up considerably over the years, but I cannot complain, as he's come aboard as a Team Sponsor and wants to buy my 308GTB! LOL!

He was going back inside for a bag with $35K when I turned him down, but promised to find another one for him.....

Looks real nice! I have that item as well, but paid a bit more on ebay ($175.00 + shipping) about 6 years ago.

Oh yes, huge respect for MOMO and Mr. Moretti.

Have a trio of items framed, from his 333SP days, and winning Daytona.
