Can I replace a Bosch 12 volt relay with a store bought generic type as long as it is 12 volt? I may have a fuel pump/ starter relay issue and wanted to try it. Bosch relays are not available where I am. Thanks in advance.

Stephane, almost all of the relays on the car are Bosch, with many duplicates of the three primary numbers.
Just find another relay with the same numbers as the suspect relay and swap positions on the fuse board. See if this helps with your diagnosis.

    Stephanie,
Not all relays are the same in terms of electromechanical system inside...
I have lots of experience with relays and modern substitutes, both BOSCH and Tyco.
Let me know which BOSCH relay number you need and I will tell yuo which moden upgrade or substitute is there and where to get it from.
    Cheers.
