Who else is getting the email for the new magazine questionnaire?

What I thought was interesting was to see the name "Daytona". I thought Enzo Ferrari did not want to use or even hear that name used, and now...

On second thought, they have been using "Daytona" to describe seat design.

It was a nickname derived in America, never heard of his personal distaste for it...

He thought the race itself was pretty important....

    Re: "Daytona"

My guess is the magazine would be looking for some other word strongly associated with Ferrari that is not already trademarked by Ferrari or in use by a well-known business.

I was under the impression this was going to be an authorized Ferrari magazine. ??? Maybe I read the email too quickly. After completing the questionnaire, I ended up in the Ferrari Owner's site.

Thomas is right. After the win in 1967, Ferrari considered naming his newest V12 the Daytona. But due to the absence of the letter Y in the Italian alphabet, Ferrari spelled it with an I, i.e., Daitona. There was much laughter about this and it angered Enzo. So he went with the traditional system and thus named the car after its cylinder displacement: 365. But the name Daytona stuck.

It seems that all the guys registered in the Ferrari Owners page will receive this email about the questionare. For sure they will launch a new official magazine, and they're studying the colour preferences, names, etc, in order to select the official colour, name and magazine logo. If anyone has any official contact with this new magazine, please keep me posted about their activity. I'm interested.

    Carbon,

How do they describe Daytona seats in Italian? Even if I select the Italian market, the configurator is in English.

You don't have to sign up, I think they send it to you. They are probably batch sending it, so either yours hasn't arrived yet, or perhaps your mail system thinks it's spam? Check your bulk folder.

That question is better suited for someone who speaks Italian or has a window sticker in Italian. :)

Okay, on Ferrari's Website, under pre-owned cars in the US, I selected the first 360 Spider they had listed (all through Italiano of course) and even in Italian, all of the options are listed in English. So now I definitely have no idea.

I'm not sure what the questions had to do with designing a magazine, but I filled it out anyway. Seemed odd to me.

I was disappointed in the questionaire. I thought it would be, "What subjects do you want covered?" I expect it will be like FCAs Prancing Horse and the stuff available on the owner's site, mostly advertising, F1 news, and new car discussions. I wish they would help restorers by identifying original features and providing photos of old car details when they were new. In other words, help us keep the history alive. I can't believe Ferrari has no photos of the construction details of the cars they made.
I guess we'll just have to wait and see.

    LOL!!!

The conventional story is that Ferrari had named other cars after important race wins or championships (Mille Miglia, Mondial, Tour de France) and, following the 1-2-3 Ferrari finish at Daytona in 1967, the press assumed that the new car would carry the "Daytona" name in honor of this victory. Whether or not this was actually Ferrari's plan, the wide-spread use of the name by the press insured that Enzo would NOT use it. The successor to the 275 GTB/4, natually, became the 365 GTB/4.
