Hmmm, not really true. We service close to 150 different Ferrari many of which are new. A number of these new cars were bought by local guys from far away dealers without issues.
I was at Roger Beasley Audi today getting brakes on my A8L when they told me that the Maserati store is going in next to the Porsche dealership just off Airport Dr. near the Mall. Roger Beasley owns all of those dealerships. I wonder what will become of the Saab store next to the Audi store up North now? I passed by the Autostrada storefront on Lamar this weekend and thought that would make a good location for Ferrari. I'm glad to see them going in there. There is room for about 4 cars on the inside floor and room in the back for make-ready. There is no room for service or parts.
I was told that it was part of the dealer's license agreement with Ferrari S.p.A. I know that dealers do sell to people outside of their region but I don't think they are supposed to. That's just what I've heard from several people and read hear on Fchat several times. I could be entirely wrong. Of course is this economy everything has changed and I've heard of a few people ordering new Ferraris from dealers in other states. People who race in the Challenge series can buy from any dealer that has a race program. And of course we are talking about new cars ordered and spec'd by the buyer, not pre-owned cars with 150-800 miles. I'm having lunch with Tony Jones tomorrow. I'll ask them what their policy is at FoSA.
I picked up my Audi today at Roger Beasley and they said that the Saab dealership isn't being affected by the GM closures. They are saying that Saab survived the cuts and they plan to keep selling Saabs at the Pond Springs Rd dealership. They also said that Porsche and Maserati are staying down south at the current location near the mall. They didn't know if the Maserati dealership was open yet and selling cars. Does anyone here know if they have cars on the ground there and are open to the public yet?
I think that's what me means. Porsche is staying down there, and Maserati will probably be down there.
One of my friends supplies paint here in Austin to alot of home builders and local companies. He told me a guy came in and had a batch ordered for a "Ferrari Dealership" here in Austin.
I live up North so anything in Austin is down south to me. Sorry for the confusion. I was referring to the current Porsche location just off of Airport next to Sugars. That's where the Porsche and Maserati dealerships are and will be. No moves planned for them.
why is it a universal constant that we all use titty bars as common geographic reference points. too bad its not going in there that would be one stop shopping and plausible deniability.
The way I see it, as a northern Austinite, RRocker, Once you past 290 on the 35 or 183, that's South Austin
Yes. They have a large sign in the window that has a Ferrari logo and it says "Coming Soon, Ferrari of Austin"
I stopped by this morning and snapped a couple pics of the signs. I also took one photo of the inside but there was too much glare from the windows. It looks pretty nice on the inside but it's pretty small. They do have "SERVICE" located in two places. The service bay goes back to the rear of the building but I couldn't tell how much room is back there. The interior looks finished but there are no cars, tools, posters or display items. They have the standard display set up that shows the basic options like Daytona inserts, shields, wheels, etc, but no items were displayed yet. If there are planning on only servicing 1 Ferrari at a time, they are grossly underestimating the Austin market. Well done. Mike. You're the man. Looks really nice. I'm glad that they're going to have service in-house. Even if it is only a single bay. I agree, that seems a very conservative estimate on their part of the demand for service in Austin. I used to have some numbers about the number of Ferraris registered in Austin, Houston, etc. Would be interesting to compare the number of cars here to the number of cars in other cities and then compare the available service bays at each local dealer. I wonder if they're thinking they'll be doing primarily warranty work here. if that's the case, maybe 1 will be enough until they start selling more new cars here.
Noticed the service bay the last time I drove by and thought the same thing about the size. Overall I'm a little surprised at the location and size of it. Figured it would be downtown if they ever had one.
I found out today that the new Ferrari dealership have four service bays, not one. It has one up front and three in the back.
If it is Giuseppe Risi, believe me, he knows how to really utilize the available space. Did you ever go to the old FoDallas store? It looked like it would hold 4 or 5 cars and we got 9 to 10 in there everyday. Plus we only had two bays in the back but could work on four cars at a time. Great space utilization............... And being related to FoH and its racing legacy,,,,,,,not a bad thing to have in your town... Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
