A couple of friends and I are huge friends of exotic cars, Ferrari's in particular of course. However, we come from an area in Connecticut that we don't see much of anything other than the occasional 6-Series or over the summer we might spot some nicer vehicles but the point stands, we don't see enough of these cars to really soothe our desire. While I was driving home from a hockey game I had coached for a youth team in Greenwich I spotted the multitude of exotic car dealerships but the Ferrari dealership in particular stood out. I really wanted to just pull over right then and there but decided I should probably talk to the fine members of this board about how acceptable this is in Ferrari dealerships. From what I have heard (Long time lurker, rarely post) it seems as though most dealerships are filled with kinda employees willing to help any customer but I'm sure there are some exceptions. So I come to you with this question, is it considered acceptable to walk into a Ferrari dealership such as the one in Greenwich just to marvel at these works of art with no intention of buying, a least at this point in time ;)? I don't want to be a nuissance, I understand it is a business not a museum but I don't know of too many other places around me where I can see these marvels. The dealership alone is an hour and a half drive for me but I figured it woud certainly be worth it even if I could only stare for a bit.

The dealership is a few miles from my house. Everyone I've talked to has said they usually don't even give potential customers the time of day, so who knows...

BTW, it's owned by the same people who own the Bentley/Aston Martin/Rolls-Royce dealership across the street; Miller Motorcars.

If you wanna go somewhere that will really show you their enthusiasm whether you buy or not, go to the Lotus dealership :p They're so friendly and kind. Even let me sit in their Carrera GT.

If you go in and act respectful you will be fine. By respectful I mean not taking pictures or leaning on the cars. I have been going to that dealership since I was ten, and everyone was nice to me. Over the years I have gotten to know the sales manager Werner, who is also very nice and shows me around and fairly recently has let me sit in the cars and has shown me around the service area.

I have heard that Wide World of Cars in Spring Valley has some real enthusiastic salespeople. Not too far from Greenwich...about 20 miles :p

Thanks so much for the expedient responses.

I wouldn't drea, of touching or taking pictures of the cars ive just never really had the opportunity to see one of these cars up close so that would be more than enough for me. Sadly, Spring Valley is 20 miles in the wrong direction, im from Southeastern CT so pushing two hours might be a bit much to see these vehicles for me right now, maybe someday if I ever have the good fortune to buy one I would make the trip.

Thank you again for the responses, I didn't want to cause anybody grief by showing up where i wasn't welcome and from what it sounds like thats pretty hit or miss at Greenwich.

My advice is to go there, they won't kick you out or anything. The worst that could happen is that they don't talk to you, which is doubtful from what I have seen.
If you are lucky there is sometimes a Bugatti across the street at the Bentley dealer. Also if you just stand around the main road on a nice day you will see an amazing amount of exotics.

If you really want to just look at Ferrari's, go to the Ferrari Club of America regional concorso on Father's Day in Hartford (on the capitol grounds). Usually over 100 Ferrari's there. Werner usually is the Master of Ceremonies and presents the trophies. Although I do not know him personally, he appears to be a true gentleman and can not imagine him objecting to people looking at Ferrari's at Miller Motor Cars.

I hadn't heard about that event, sounds like something worth checking out. People are so much more helpful on this forum than any other forum I've ever been on haha.

The FCA Concorso in Hartford is open to the public and free of charge. It is a fund raising event for the Connecticut Children's Medical Center. Money is raised through sponsors (including Miller Motor Cars) and Ferrari owners Concorso registration. It is one of the finest Ferrari events in the country. Not to be missed!

I just stopped into the dealer in Detroit to browse around a bit, no problem whatsoever. Trust me, there's not much going on in Ferrari showrooms. Every new car arrives pre-sold, mostly they just have pricey used cars in the showroom. I hung out in the showroom in Greenwich while they did some warranty work on mine, people were very friendly. Life goes by too fast, you have to take time to see the Ferrari's :D

If you're ever out near NYC, take the trip to Bentley Long Island. Some of the best work there! And there is absolutely NO SHORTAGE of exotic cars!

SLRs, CGTs, F40s, Murcielagos and F430s galore!

Once the weather get's better, watch for F-chat gatherings in the area in this section, usually Beverly on the North Shore. Marshfield on the South Shore and Southborough to the west. They usually are on Sunday mornings at a convenient spot. It's a public gathering so all are welcome.

Do you hold a grudge or something against Miller Motorcars? It seems like you are desperately trying to direct potential and non-potential anywhere but Miller. I've been visiting the dealerships in Greenwich for probably 5+ years and every single one of them has been very kind and welcoming. Miller Motorcars is one of the few dealers in the country where I have been treated with a great deal of respect. They are running a grade A business there but they aren't stuck up snobs like you might expect from an exotic car dealership. Take the time to stop in and actually get to know the place. If you ask to take pictures it shouldn't be an issue whatsoever. I have seen cases where the sales people have offered to let people sit in the car and take their picture in it. So anyone thinking about stopping by Miller Motorcars I would definitely recommend it.

I unfortunately rarely if ever make it to NYC every year, and if I do it is usually to bring the lady friend somewhere, so no me time to go exotic spotting. ):
I might stop by Miller, but I am holding it against you guys if I have a bad experience, jokes!

I will definitely be on the lookout for those!

The drive down to Greenwich should be well worth your time. I was skeptical at first but have made several trips down from Madison, CT since getting my license a few years ago. Head down on a sunny Saturday or Sunday and be amazed. It is without a doubt the best place in the Northeast to spot exotics...in or out of the dealerships. Take a stroll around Greenwich Avenue...where you'll see the exotics in action...even if only at 10-25 mph haha
I have seen anything from a Porsche 959 to a Ferrari F50 to a Veyron to everything in between.
As was said, you shouldn't have any problems in the dealerships as I never have. Of course if you roll up in a Ford F-150 with mud on your boots I'm sure you'd get some glances.

Not at all! I just don't know anything about them, so how can I meaningfully recommend or not recommend them? They are my local dealership; only a mere few miles from my house. I'll concede that I've been slightly turned off to them by what a few friends have told me, but I have no personal opinion on them. :p

If they are as good as you say they are, awesome, and perhaps I'll have to go check them out today, but until I do, I must reserve my judgment.

    I'm in Essex...come see mine..

Also try Foxboro.. Ferrari of NE is nearly across the street from Gillette stadium and the Bass Pro Shops. Make a day of it. I love walking around the showroom and shop area absorbing the essence. They don't seem to mind at all. They even let me touch stuff, although I am a service client. That may make a difference,

What level hockey are you coaching? Can I assume seahawks? My son plays Bantam Major now and is nearing the end of his youth career. Perhaps we have already crossed paths.

FYI...for the sake of accuracy The greenwich dealer is "Miller Motors". Possiblty the most respected dealership in the US (according to them)

I have been treated like an old friend at Miller Motorcars, and been treated like a suspected shoplifter. Different guys working each time. Just go and enjoy yourself, ask before you touch and they will either say no, or be really helpful and might take you for a ride while they do a check out run(happaned both ways for me) either way you get to experiance nice cars.
