I've used them for my warranty work and normal maintenance (oil changes etc). Jim Summers, the service manager, is a straight shooter. I've been pleased with their work.

I have all my warranty work done there. Jim Summers, the service manager is a really fine guy and I trust his opinions on what needs work. Being a Penske owned shop and authorized dealer, they will not be inexpensive on a major service. Depending on how modern the car is (OBD II etc etc) you may want to check out some of the independent shops in town. Andy Falbo in Fountain Hills and Alex Traverso in Scottsdale are two of the better known guys with excellent reputations. I'm sure there are members here who will post their contact info.

    Andy Falbo's # is 480-836-7915.

As for Scottsdale Ferrari, I've been treated like CRAP each of the four times I've been in over the last two months. Maybe it is just me, I have a 99 355 Spyder. Jim said my cats were out and it would cost $4K per cat to replace. I said that GREAT because they're covered under Federal Emissions warranty. At first they acted like they'd never heard of that. In the end FNA did cover the $9,300 bill.

However, the check engine code wouldn't clear. I live over an hour away from the dealer and I made three return trips to the dealer to finish fixing the problem. Finally, Jim told me "well, you have a OLD car, I'll have to dig OLD equipment out to properly work on it".

I've never been talked down to like that before. There were no appologies, he didn't even act like he cared that I'd been back four times (total) for the same problem. I finally changed to Andy Falbo!

    Allen,

I went there this past Feb while in the Phoenix area. They had a 360 I had interest to see and went thee specifically to see this car. I was staying in downtown Phoenix and drove there to see that car.

I was treated as if I were homeless. They did not even offer to open the car for me or to discuss it. Was the same treatment I had received from SVAS.

I was going to write Penske with complaint and realized that this is the business model for some Ferrari dealers including theirs.

Find yourself a good independent and forget them.

Sorry to about this being my only input but the best part of Ferrari of Scottsdale, is the receptionist. At least it was last chistmas when I stopped in to fuel my dream of buying a f-car. :)

In reality I did then a few days later commit to the beautiful 360 I bought, and I am very pleased I did so.

Apparently the theme for many Ferrari sellers is to keep buyers at a distance to increase their demand for the product.

This does not work for my business model. I'd have no customers with that attitude!

Once I joined the Ferrari Club (Desert Region) I met several friendly members who were happy to suggest some independent techs. That is how I found Andy Falbo 480-836-7915; I have been very happy since.

I wonder why the dealer gets away with treating people that way (both in service and sales)? In the future I will go out of my way to avoid the deal, including purchasing "newer" Ferrari.

I drove onto their lot in a rental PTCruiser. That proves my point about attention!

Case in point. Friend was in sales at a local Chevy dealer. There was a beautiful tricked up P/U truck on the floor (about 15 years ago). Overweight, somewhat dishelved person in overalls comes in and shows interest and said he wanted to buy the truck. He inquired about financing.

My friend, the salesman, asks his income. "$20K" the man says. Friend says that won't cut it and starts to get up to show the man the door. The man stops him and says "that's $20K/month from a trust fund"!

    Moral: don't prejudge anyone.

F of S prejudged me and then held that 360 2 more months before it was sold and it was an ok car overall. It was pozzi with a dark blue int, F1, and Tubi challenge grille.

Independents are always best, most courteous, and are gererally grateful for your business.

We are most fortunate here to have Rifledriver eventhough he stopped buying lunch for potential customers now that he doesn't have to!

I used to be sales mgr at a factory-authorized Ferrari Maserati dealership, and what you just said proved to be true SO many times! Many of the folks we knew had enough money to purchase the dealership several times over would just come by to kick tires and act important; however, so many times the BUYERS were the ones who came in driving a McCar and wearing their clothes from Target....

a bit off geograhically, but following the same theme....concerning ferrari of washington. i've always shown up in sweatpants and hooded sweatshirt, never clean shaven. always got good treatment. that was true even the first time i showed up to check out a 328. a couple years later, i'm still wearing the same clothes, still getting good treatment from the service dept, and when i showed interest in a TR they had, it was a no-BS deal that got done quickly and hassle-free. if you ever live 'round here, give FOW a try. i just don't understand what a dealer (or any business) gains by being rude and unfriendly.

"i'm still wearing the same clothes"

Johnny, I hope you have washed them since then!

Fof W seems to be a very well run dealership. My car purchase was independent of them, but they looked it over and made a few recommendations and would take no $ for so doing!

They also stored the car for 2 days and ensured that it was well kept awaiting Intercity's arrival. They would take no $ for that.

I had communicated at one time with Ralph Cestero in the sales dept about a beautiful 355 spider they had for sale, and he was very accommodating.

So, there is at least one F dealership we know that has customer respect, and that, most likely, came about at its inception appreciating customers.

It's too bad there are not more.

Cats are specifically covered for 8 years or 80,000 miles (which ever comes first). As are the ECU and OBD computer.

That was Lamborghini of Scottsdale also known as Motorsports of Scottsdale.

I cannot say enough good things about both Alex Traverso and Andy Falbo, since someone posted Andy's number here is Alex's 480-241-8877.

For the record Gary Simon (Sales) and Jim Summers (Service) have always been very accomodating and both are extremely knowledgable and probably have the most longevity with Ferraris in Arizona. Unfortunately the General Manager there is not a nice guy and is probably a big part of why the attitude is so negative over there. Some might blame Penske, but I use the Penske VW dealership (VW North Scottsdale) and they are great, they go to great lengths to make sure you leave happy.

As far as the best I have been treated by a Ferrari dealership, the Florida authorized dealers have always been very nice. Central Florida Ferrari is by far the best experience I have had with a Ferrari Dealership I visit them every year and will be back next month. Shelton Ferrari was very nice when I visited them 14 years ago. Lake Forest Sportscars was very nice as well when I visited them in 2000.

The worst I have been treated is San Diego Ferrari where a someone actually swept dirt on my wifes feet as we looked at cars on the sales floor, and just stared at her to get her to move, not a word. I know we probably did not look like buyers, but it was just a very rude place, the sales person and the receptionist were very snobby and made me very uncomfortable. This is really the only bad experience I have had at an authorized dealer. San Francisco was great, Beverly Hills was nice as well.

Yeah, both Gary & Jim have been around a long time. I
bought a car from them when they were at the old
Cavallino, on Acoma, if memory serves, in 1989, and both
of them had been there several years at that point.

Didn't know if they'd last(or wanna hang around) when
Pensky bought the joint, but guess it all worked out.

Btw, I checked around a bit when Pensky bought the place
and was told that the owner of Cavallino(Steve somethingorother, forgot his last name,
offhand, but he lived in Silver City, NM) really regretted
selling to Penske, but Penske wouldn't let him have it back.
Dunno if I'd go there in the future, as altho my experiences
w/Gary & Jim were pleasant, I really have a distaste for big
corporations and the way they treat people(I work for one of
the largest), and would rather run my $$ into a mom & pop
place where the owner is THERE, and is actually interested in
his/her customers and what's going on.

Make no mistake about it, if the GM is a butt, Penske would
know that, and woulda booted him long ago if he didn't
like that. So, probably just boils down to the guy makes his
numbers every year, so he gets to stay.
