Hey guys, visited Ferrari of Washington again today and met with a really nice salesguy named Bob McElwee. He with my dad and I for a while, then showed us around the garage. Outside, someone had parked a beatiful red 850 CSI, and the usual 360, 355, TR in the showroom. In the garage, I was able to see the amazing Challenge cars they keep in the back as well as (For Lash) a 512 LM. Never heard of the 512, although it looked nothing like anything I had seen. In the service bay, the usual 360, Q-porte and such, also a 246 Dino GT and a Stradale. Bob told us that they had had a silver Carerra GT in for service on Monday....just missed it!! Sorry no pics, I was too interested in looking around. Any info on the LM would be appreciated, as well as comments :)

BluDevil, I'm assuming that you're speaking of a 512 BB LM. I'm trying to figure out which models it could've been...F512M (the last Testarossa variant, road car from 1995), 512M (Le Mans Prototipo) or 512 BB LM (Production BB based race car from the late 70's/early80's).

I'm going to venture to guess that you saw a 512BB LM. An amazing car...one of the most amazing sounds you will ever hear...stunning!

They were awesome, very light (approx. 1100kg) with almost 500hp...

Good job. I was totally expecting questions regarding 360 floor mats. :)

Come up to Grand Touring one Saturday...I'll show you around.

    Lashdeep,

You never did get back to me on why I don't have any floor mats in my Stradale. Perhaps it was good that David didn't ask any questions on floor mats. :)

    Regards,
    Chris

David, he probably didn't mention it, but Bob is a former racer with some Winston Cup starts. He's also a proud father and IMO an all around great guy. A while ago, he worked with Heishman's Porsche, so he knows the P cars well. A class act, and again IMO a great addition to the FoW family.

The 512 BB LM is indeed locally owned and it is regularly run HARD by the family that owns it. It did very well when it was raced by them in the Ferrari Historics, running at the front of the field. It was delivered to run Le Mans to the Ecurie Francorchamps in Belgium. Lash is correct bout the sound-500bhp flat 12s sound magical.
Bob is a great guy. He sold me several 911s at Heishman and worked on them too when he was service Manager. He really knows his cars.

Did the 850csi have BBS Challenge wheels or stock wheels ?. I sold my red 850csi 2 years ago and the guy put on 19" BBS challenge wheels which I don't think did the car justice. By the way, that was a fantastic car even at 110K miles. I'd buy it back in a heartbeat.

    nope, sorry

Yes, I believe it was the 512 BB LM, Bob said that it had around 500hp, and he let us open the door, as you said, amazingly light!! Cool car, I had never heard about it, and I had to mention it just for you ;)

Yes, as a matter of fact we did talk about racing and he mentioned he had done a little, I agree, hes a great guy, and has been really nice to my dad and I, letting us look around, I really appreciate it.

Im sorry, I didnt notice, I was anxious to get inside. Was yours red, with an //M logo on the rear and in the front grill, thats what I noticed.

    David
