hello, i've heard mixed messages on this. is it cancelled this year? if so, will there still be that event at the italian village (don't recall the sponsor) in the fall? thanks in advance, joe
Why was this cancelled? This seemed like a good event that was building. Last year seemed to draw a lot of people - mostly off Oak Street. I personally didn't understand why the cars were closed off to the viewing public however. In fact the real show was on rush where 5 or 6 cars were opened up and available for closer viewing. What happened to this event?
I saw that about two minutes after I posted - thank you. Curious though - what was the deal with closing it off last year?
They weren't closed off, but rather were fenced off from the public. Affording some security from the juvenile acts of vandalism. This is the way it's been done since the Oak Street event resurrected itself a few years ago. A number of years ago, after the Marchetti family stopped having 'Ferrari Fantasia' at their estate, we did the first Oak Street event. That was the 1st and last one for a few years. Some cars were damaged(vandalized), and one of mine was keyed. This explaines why better security measures are taken now.
Oddly enough the latest FCA newsletter (which I got yesterday) actually now lists the Ferraris on Oakstreet event. It references the website, but the website doesn't have it on. Anyway, it is off. Hopefully for not too long. PS: Seeing that Esquire come down also makes me a tad sad. That was such a great looking movie theater and I'm happy I got some pics of Ferraris in front of it when it was playing "The Italian Job".
