Hello all, I was wondering if you are going to spend $60K on a weekend fun car would you rather have a Ferrari (348 or Testarossa) or would you rather have a newer Maserati? I'm new to the wonderful world of Italian cars and thought this would make some good conversation.

Guess it depends on what you REALLY want to do with the car. The cars are very different. It was too tough a choice for me to pick only one. :)

Good luck with which ever you choose.

I would (and did) go with the Ferrari. More unique, and more fun I think. 348's rule!

328 would be a nice choice too.

Check the Northwest Section for local happenings. I also highly recommend joining Ferrari Club of America.

the maserati is a modern car with user friendliness that surpasses the two ferraris you mention. the TR is a great car to drive, has a classic feel to it, but is modern enough to have amenities like a good AC. the TR has a more "raw" feel to it than the maserati.

The real question is, do you want to be noticed? If so, go Ferrari...

    Welcome to Fchat Steveoly!

I just drove past Des Moines, WA on Saturday in my 348 - going from Vancouver to San Jose. Likely driving through again on Friday, hopefully.

I had a similiar concern last year before I bought my 348 spider. My wife thought the Maserati made more sense - brand new with warranty and came in all sorts of "pretty" colours. But I wanted a sports car to hit the curves and feel the road with, and still drive in the city to work when I wanted to. The TR's too big and heavy for city driving (and parking!), and the Maserati is supposedly a bit softer and more of a GT (and the exhaust sounds great!). To me a sports car should be packaged efficiently - no bigger than needed - but I've got all sorts of strange thoughts :D

Big depreciation on Maserati's from new where the TR and 348 are somewhat leveled off - although big downside potential for Ferrari repair bills.
