I always wanted to put a bumper sticker on my Ferrari that says my other car is a HONDA.
The only reason for owning a Ferrari is to attract pretty, large breasted babes. Now if you will excuse me, I have some pistons to balance and cams to time !!!! (Like hot women have a real interest in this)
I own a Maserati GT and test drove a 2015 California yesterday... So here are my thoughts Ferraris and Maserati engines are made in the exact same factory on the exact same assembly line The Maserati is easy to drive & luxurious. THe stock throttle response is bad but a mod can fix it easily... any person with car knowledge can step in it and drive it, unlike the Ferrari The Maserati GT is quite big and difficult to park THe throttle on the California is mindblowing.. i was barely pressing it (sport mode) and was going 40mph... literally a feather touch on the accelerator Thankfully while there is a lot of throttle on the Cali, it's not extremely sensitive.. meaning you can drive 5-10mph in tight positions etc, no jerking The Cali was more compact The Cali gets some getting used to the way it shifts
I was castrated in an industrial accident and also lost my testicles. I've compensated by owning a TR and 360. Some say that I may be the atypical owner, others aren't so certain. Sent via itty bitty electrons
I go to Starbucks almost daily. In good weather I take the 458 Spider. They know me by name and say "the usual?" Today a female barista asked me what I did when I was younger? My reply: I played drums in a rock band. They were stunned. Lol
In the 50s I became a fan of F1. Sometime in 1960 or thereabouts a gentlemen let me sit in his Ferrari. I was hooked. When my racing career ended in 90, I was building my practice and couldn't afford one. Bought my first one in 98. It got wrecked by a repair shot summer of 99. Bought another 348, a spider. 3 years later a 355, then a 3,60 and finally a Mondial T and a F430. These will be my last two. Refuse to buy an automatic, so I'm done. I'll keep them until I van no longer drive them. They are a bbeautiful construed item. They are fast, and the late model ones are reliable. I've also met some great people who one them also. Art
Stereotypes are of course a fallacy (except for Porsche owners, in whose case the stereotype is true; kidding).
l drive an old Dino so it wouldn't have that effect at all, I'm afraid. And it's not red even! The Dino and I just have a special relationship, that's all. Lovely to take her out early Sunday mornings when no one else is around.
If you still make your choices based on what people used to think they're still winning I say. I love my old Ferrari. What anyone else thinks doesn't enter into it.
What I have concluded, reading the threads through the years, is that there are two types of Ferrari owners - one buys a Ferrari because he wants that particular model to enjoy for himself, the other buys for other reasons, such as status, image, to make a statement, etc. That is probably true of Lambo, Porsche, etc. Most old-car owners are of the first type, it seems to me. Honestly, the notion that a Ferrari is a finger you can stick up to the world never occurred to me. I would certainly try hard to avoid giving that impression. With respect, it is perhaps such an impression that contributes to the stereotype of the Ferrari owner.
I think when most people see a guy driving a modern day Ferrari they think of a middle finger going up. When they see a guy in a classic Ferrari they see a car enthusiast.
A friend sent this to me as a joke. The caption reads, "OKAY, PUT YOUR SHIRT BACK ON. AND DO UP YOUR DAMN PANTS. YOU'RE SCARING THE DOG." Image Unavailable, Please Login
That's Tony Tag! He was a fixture in Chicago. Haven't seen him in a couple years. Ex musician,IIRC. Love him or hate him, he did drive the car a lot.
Ah, the wonder of the Internet. No offense to Tony intended, J.P. It was just a humorous photo that seemed appropriate to the thread. Best, Andres
No offense taken. Just putting a name to a stereotype There are several Fchat threads about him. His other car is or was a Caddy Eldo with lots of gold tone accents.
