Hey guys,I live in brooklyn where all cars get really beat up from other inconsiderate drivers while parallel parking into tight spaces.
So for the past month I see some guy parking a brand new silver ferrari 360 right on the street squeezed tightly between SUVs and 70's rustboxes. My cars bumper is all beat up from these asses,I just dont know how this guy can do it!! ID be so paranoid if I parked a ferrari ANYWHERE

    Probably a drug dealer.

He must "park amongst his people".

lol....(hi doug). i am probably one of those people. never feel a need to park way out in the middle of nowhere. if there is a spot open with adequate space on each side, i pull in.

people in general have been very respectful and careful. imo, those who park 1/2 mile away and/or take up two parking spots attract a lot more attention and are much more risk susceptable......

You'd rather walk a quarter mile? It's just a car. Paintless dent removal works on them too!

I agree. Careful parking in regular places is preferable. People seem taken aback if they notice. Color seems to incite vandals too. Helps if they think you're in the mob ;)

reminds of my idiot neighbour. we will live in an area that attracts a lot of tourists and daily visitors so street parking can be a pain. the guy's lazy as a hound and if he can't find a park nearby he'll park his db9 vantage anywhere it'll fit. this is quite often on a street corner which is of course illegal. i can't count the number of times his car has been clamped by the parking inspectors. it's actually quite a sight to see a car of this ilk inacapaictated by the parking fuzz.

I've always felt the same way as everyone else - such cars are meant to be enjoyed, with all that entails. If you can't even feel secure in driving to a filling station (or afford it, these days...), then you have no business driving such cars. No sensible argument there. I'll park in any place that provides adequate space, Ferrari, Mercedes, whatever it may be. Part of showing that respect is in using them...just my $.02..of course, it could be a generational thing - my son is absolutely FANATICAL about the cleanliness, security and general upkeep on his car.

If I owned a ferrari I would of course not just pamper it at home in the driveway/garage but also drive it but I would be scared it would be stolen or damaged and may take some serious steps to avoid these things like driving and coming straight home or something. Either way I would not have the balls to do what he is doing!

I owned my first ferrari while we still lived in Brooklyn; the crack craze had waned, but there were still some 'bad' areas- in fact, there was almost no way out of Brooklyn Heights but through a 'bad' area. It was kind of interesting to see whether the homeboys looking down at me from their SUV would have time to 'jack me before the light changed. Needless to say, i didn't give up ferraris; i moved to the country. Now i contend with half-crazed soccer moms in Suv's and redneck pickup truck guys who really don't give a ****. Hmmmm....

In general, you better not care much about your car, any car, if you parallel park it on the street. It seems that most cars are huge SUVs driven by people who park by ear - they certainly can't see anything behind them. They just back up until they hear they hit something. Most small/low cars have front ends that can't take the abuse, and sports cars look really sad if they are beat up.

I think why people notice Ferraris parked on the street is that they are amazed that someone cares so little for such a nice car.

I once saw this lady parallel parking on a busy street. I was waiting for her to get into her spot, which was ample and I watch her as she slowly backs up until she hits the Cadillac SUV behind her. My eyes bugged out and she pulls out and tries to back up again and again bumps the car behind her. It was absurd.

NYC is such a tough town for car guys...it is brutal yah really gotta love the hobby to be in it in NYC (xcept for staten Island!) parking is a big problem..you are stuck with some really rough spots and any car SUV will back right up and into your nose..usually making contact up about the middle somewhere! Some guys in my area use these big foam peices that hook on the front of the car..don't know where they get them or how they store them in the car but the other night I did see a homeless who must have unhooked one or it blew off in the wind and was sleeping on it....I am so...happy that the "emblem stealing" trend has passed...no F nose badge or cavalino or wheel center was safe back them...it was cruel...thankfully now with ipods no one seems to steal dash radios so much anymore..at this point once they are in the car, they take the whole car not the radio!

I have the impression - at least here in Britain - that Porsches attract more hostility than Ferraris. Whereas Ferraris are romantic and somehow a bit more 'human', Porsches are very cold....
