Just heard from Sam Emerick, who is reviving the FOC in the Dallas area, and they are going to try another fun run on Sat. June 26th. I told him to get back on FCHAT, as he hasn't visited lately, and let the group know what is going on. They had 4 cars on the Poker Run day, and we know why.

Kind of sad that they didn't join us, 30 Ferrari's would've been better than 26.

I think the #1 knock against either the FCA or FOC from a members perspective, is the crazy expensive dues. However, they are very similar between each other. I think it was Greg that told me one of the Viper Clubs was something like $250 a year!

Are you calling viper owners riff raff, does that mean I am not wanted at any of the events.

Oh no! not that at all!!!!!

I was referring to why they would want expensive dues. We like Vipers!

You cruise any of the Houston events?? I sometimes do the FCA or FOC drives.

Everyone is welcome, heck they even take Art Cars! ;)

I think a key diff is in the name FOC. FOC doesn't want guys like me who don't own as we bring nothing to the table....or at least that is my perception.

Actually, the FOC no longer requires actual ownership. That's according to their national homepage.

I guess in a way that's like the FCA, we only require membership on fully insured events.

IMHO I don’t think creating yet another club will benefit anyone. I believe it can only dilute what is already here. Unless they have some beef with what is already here or who runs it why create something new? I know I am new here and maybe there is some history but unless it can be pointed out what the significant benefits are this is something I will pass on.

Anything that increases participation by local Ferrari enthusiasts is a good thing. Each person will simply have to decide if either or any club is a good fit for them.

It's unfortunate that they have again chosen a conflicting date, as June 26th is Exotic Car Night #7 at Carson's Palace.

See here for the past ones!

Thanks Speedy308. I respect their right to take their ball and play elsewhere. I find it interesting and sad that they feel they have to pouch for members on FChat.

I for one I’m not going anywhere. I have too much fun with the group here.

To be fair, so does the FCA :D Join us, see www.fcadfw.com and download the newsletter! :D

Rob has always been clear that Fchat and FCA DFW are separate, and I know he's gone to some great lengths to keep that separation.

I personally would love to see a bunch more Ferrari events in the area. Hopefully the FOC schedule will be posted here, as Rob invited, so that these unfortunate event conflicts don't reoccur.

I don't care who sponsors an event as long as there are events that are fun and draw participation. We need a go between so we each can benefit the other and each has good turnout. As nick said no point in diluting the base or putting up a wall between.

On a side note: I was a huge Fcar fan for years and never heard of fchat til I met rob in person after I tracked down the FCA and found out about a local meeting. Point is it took legwork and I WANTED to find out. Imagine the busy Dr. or executive...they only know of events they are told about.

    Tillman,

If I joined FCA does that include me in FCA DFW?

Yep. If there's a region/chapter nearby, you are automagically enrolled in that chapter when you sign up for the FCA. The cost is slightly higher where there's an active region, to help cover events.
