hi everyone, i'm new here. i am not by any means a ferrari expert, nothing like some of you. i (unfortunately) don't own a ferrari, so for now i satisfy my urges for ferraris by building models. i was wondering if it is possible to find ferrari paint in small amounts, preferably in spray paint form. i really like that dark red metallic that you sometimes see on 599's. is this possible? if so, where can i get it. thanks, robert mickelson

Tamiya spray-can lacquers are much easier to use than enamels.

Model painting is a fine art but even a non-expert can get a good paint job with these after a little practice.

As far as matching a particular Ferrari color, Tamiya has "Italian Red" which is basically a generic Rosso Corsa, plus silver, black, yellow, etc.

To get a particular Ferrari color you'd have to have it custom blended...I know some professional-level modelers actually use automotive paint.

I'm a noncompetitive and very slow model builder so what I can get off the shelf is OK.

Check this website...Alex Kustov is an awesome pro Ferrari model builder:

I found this site on a search. There's some others too if you look around a little. Although you'll probably have to thin any of them out a bit for use on a model.

You can buy actual Ferrari colors from Automotive paint stores (they have the books with the paint codes in them), usually a pint at a time. They make small spray cans to use with the paint too. It is expensive though and will probably cost $20-30 for a pint, but it will last for a few cars.

I've built a few Ferrari's, and I usually just use the Tamiya spray cans, they work pretty well and are close enough to the Ferrari color for me, but if you want exact then go with the actual auto paint as stated before.

You can also go to the PPG paint website and get almost every Ferrari paint color. You can get it in spray or touch up.
