    Hey Everyone,
If the weather EVER gets nice for more than 24 hours, I have this idea to take my new Nikon D-200 and the 308 someplace for a cool photo session. I'm looking for ideas. Anyone know a good place to shoot a very low to the ground car with a nice backdrop that is not too far from Boston?

Anyone want to join me with some more Fcars just for fun?

I wouldnt mind taking place in this. How about Searles Castle in Salem NH. It is a function hall for weddings and such. If you go to www.northeathighline.com all the pictures there were taken at the castle.

also maybe hampton beach during the after noon... we can get 10 parking spots next to each other for the photo shoot

Without a doubt there are a handful of poster worthy locations near me that rival/beat anything in NE or the Northwest for that matter. Resevoir, low mountains, and large pines and one cool place with a tremendous 50 mile view as a backdrop with an attractive farm in the foreground.

These places have little traffic so cars could get posed. Thats a great idea for an fchat group ride.

The castle in Salem sounds cool. But can you use it for this without renting it?? I don't like the idea of Hampton beach. I want a pretty spot with a nice backdrop where the car can be photographed alone, posed, get shots from every angle. Hampton is a zoo. (But a good place to cruise in a red Ferrari....and maybe a good place to find some women with g-strings for Chris!)

Hey wait a minute...I need to put an ad in the Phoenix and get a couple of nude models for this. THEN I'll be talking! ;)

Spenser, would love to have you along Bro.

Chris, you need to get your car put back together first. :D

Birdman, I'll be happy to tag along as I love being around the cars, plus if Verrel can't make it, I'll have to take his spot as resident mechanic. (He did teach me everthing I know so far, although I'm still learning.)

You could always use my Mom's back yard. Nice lawn with tree's in the background.

I'm looking for something unique and different. Perhaps pastoral with farms and fields, or a river or something. Or maybe something industrial....but I'm leaning towards nature-like, someplace fun to drive but not too far. No crowds and no place that I need special permission. I have a lawn and a wooded lot here, but I need something that is a little more open where the background adds a little but doesn't distract.

Larz Anderson is not a bad idea, but a little mundane. I guess I'm thinking white mountains type scenes, but not that far away.

Scott, would love to have you. I'm thinking it could be a group Fdrive and photo-op with lunch. If the weather ever turns decent that is. WTF is with this weather, anyway?

I just got off the horn with Verell and he tells me that Chris is the luckiest man alive that his semi-seized waterpump and semi-seized tensioner bearings didn't eat his engine for lunch! His car should be done Sunday with luck, no thanks to me.

You should have seen it when we pressed the old tensioner bearing off the spring loaded tensioner arm. *POP* bearings everywhere!

Yes, Chris is the luckiest 308 owner I have met, he seriously was playing with a time bomb.

Aside from that, I have no idea where you could get some decent pics.

    How about the blue hills?

Again with the right angle you get the old stone wall, through the tree's to bostons Sky line.

Not to mention the curvy road up, and back down.

Yes, those tensioner bearings were in bad shape. Now I know what that rattling in the back was.

Boy, I did not want to be the Poster boy. "Don't be like this poor soul. Don't neglect your belts"

It's a good thing i have met some good people to help me out. :)

Birdman, if you can access the grounds the Crane Estate in Ipswich is a magnificent venue! Marvelous architecture! Tree lined lawn that runs to the Atlantic! Statues etc etc etc! A Newport quality mansion in our own backyard! May be a pain to get permission from the trustees.

Spoke to Verell this AM. Will 2nd Birdman. Chris is a remarkably lucky guy!

I called and was told we can get a bunch of cars up in front of the mansion no problem as well as maybe some other scenic areas on the grounds. I'll get what details I can. This will be very painless to set up if there's interest for this locale.

I got an email off to the super of the park to find out what w/e dates in the next couple months they have open. This place gets booked for outdoor weddings fairly often.

Here's another link with an aeral shot and some history of the Ames mansion http://www.cr.nps.gov/nr/travel/pwwmh/ma72.htm

Whats up, Birdman? I was trying to be helpful and i offer exactly what you say you are looking for and you ignore it. You have a habit of saying "ferrari" drive or "ferrari" gathering, or in this case "ferrari" photo session. Maybe I'm wrong about this and you want to be inclusive just like fchat itself.

Yet when Lambo Boston had a restricted grand opening you felt shunned and rightly let them have it. Remember this from the Lambo Grand Opening thread?

I have always felt welcome at all events that i have attended during the last 3 years especially by the people driving some of the newest f-cars. A great bunch of people that only like sharing a passion for high performance cars of all marques.

And it can't be a personality thing as I only met you once 3 years ago for about 2 minutes at Joes american bar & grill.

If you are going to feel offended when lambo shuts the door on you, i would appreciate it if you not do the same thing to me. Because from what i can see, our fchat gatherings could use all the warm body's that can be had.

    RacerX,

In Birdmans defense (about the whole lambo boston thing) he and I know each other very well. What email or blogs don't reflect is sarcasm or humor in the tone of the post.

I also spoke to Birdman about it a few weeks ago and it was completely a non-issue. I don't think its fair to jump all over him because he may have missed your post or not replied to your post directly.

Jonathan is a gracious F-car owner and a lot of fun to spend time with. From my own experience he has never been anything but polite to myself and other members of Fchat.

    RacerX,

I was not at all snubbing you, dude. Your post contained zero information for me to go on. You said you live near a really nice area but you didn't say where it is or what its near. I don't know you. I know we met once, but I don't remember that much about you except that you have a Porsche 328, certainly not where you live. I looked in your profile for some information about where you live but you have nothing in there at all, not even a state. So what can I say? I can't respond without more info.

As for the Lambo Boston comment, if you go back and read the thread, you will notice that the thread was not started by them, but by Scott, who was bragging about meeting guys from Aerosmith. Scott and I are pals and I was busting his balls because I was jealous that he met Joey Kramer and Brad Whitford when in fact I have been a huge Aerosmith fan since before that whipper snapper was in diapers! ;)

Scott is cool and he knows I was just busting his balls after he busted ours! Scott also has his name and his state in his profile so even if I didn't know him, I would know approximately where he lives if he posted something about a cool place to shoot near him.

You, on the other hand, in your earliest threads on Fchat a few years ago got off to a bad start by calling others on this forum names and arguing about racing on public roads. Frankly you didn't make many friends here and that kind of thing tends to stick with you. After that, I kind of wrote you off as immature. (Not trying to sound like a jerk, just being honest.) I remember you as a really nice guy when we met, with a real enthusiasm for cars in general. I was frankly shocked at some of the things you said on this forum shortly after that and so were many others.

I have never been an "elitest" about my Ferraris. (It's not like I have an F40 or anything!) I like to hang out with anyone that is into cars. Every Fchat event that we have had around here has been open to anyone and is freely discussed on this forum.

Kenny, I'm liking this spot. Christine has been there and thinks it's good spot too. Do we need to pick a date? Can you get some available dates? Can anyone make it on a Friday? It could be a Ferrari Friday event (with no wrenches hopefully). That would avoid the weekend issues with the place.

Birdman, good retort to a totally uncalled for prior post.

As for the dates, I've inquired about what weekend dates are available to us. From those dates it can be decided what works for most. I'm sure any sunny Friday would be available :)

As to the Lambo thread JayO and RPM took away the same meaning as myself, you never cleared up your true meaning. YOU are the only one who COMPLAINED. If you were doing an inside joke you should have indicated it somewhere.

Scott was playing along so well that he even carries the JOKE further by responding to you as if he is serious.

You are doing revisionist posting here.

You gave a guy a hard time the other day about not having a ferrari when in fact he does. His sig is PSMAIA and had you checked his profile you would have known that. But you just shot off about him not being a ferrari fan. Well i was a fan of ferrari back in the early 80's, but i choose to drive a 928.

I remember having a disagreement with some guy in RI who had trouble with a porsche owner being here, THAT seems to be the ingredient that sets some people off. His first sarcastic post to me.

    I have never been a "street racer" and the thread that your hanging that on is "tunnel rats" where i posted helpful info to the boston drivers then bostonmini came in and mentioned;

    which started an academic discussion.

The bottom line is that I am not a street racer, i have never looked for an arguement here, and you don't speak for all the other members here because i have PM's that make it clear that i get along with some I might have argued with.

Cite a fact showing that I am a street racer or have participated in street racing other than an academic discussion.

I have never gone to one of the car shows that was clearly ferrari only or the annual picnic. But a lot of the people here are mature enough to enjoy all marques.

THE problem you have and have demonstrated with actual posts is with non-ferrari owners here regardless of whether they appreciate the marque or not. You displayed that the other day to PSMAIA. Grow up and lighten up. It is so childish to draw lines because of choice of ownership. Visit rennteam or even other sections of fchat where most owners, not all, of every car get along like adults.

I currently live in worcester and the scenic area i was referring to is princeton and holden where i ride my bike.

It is very tiring to deal with people like you birdy.
