    Good day OttoB,

Thank you very much for taking the time to take and post these amazing pics!

I believe the Dino Red (Rosso Dino... has a bit more orange color in the red) 512BB is the very first 512BB made, as I heard it was recently completed and was making its way down. After all how many Dino Red 512BB's are there (my 512BB was originally this color until it was repainted resale red)... and especially from Ontario (license plate), where the first 512BB was being restored.

    Thanks again!

    Cheers,

    Sam

Well... I have an okay 1/18 model collection of a few hundred models... and it includes a few dozen Ferraris - so, aside from the old 400i steed, I had a few of these already waiting for me (in a smaller scale - ha!) ;)

But, my all-time favorite car for many years has been the 500 Superfast and despite having attended this event numerous times and many others, I do not recall ever having seen one in person before! It is surprisingly long, but ever so elegant with many stylistic touches that can only be appreciated in person. With this stunning color combo, it certainly would have been my pick to take home if I had the chance to pick one! And, with a/c which is a must here in Florida, cannot go wrong. Here are more pics of it.

Does anyone else have a favorite car from the pics I posted?

Although it appears that a few forum members have looked at the pics since this past weekend, it is always nice to hear from folks such as yourself who are appreciative of the time and efforts in taking them, and then sharing with everyone else.

Sam - I may not have known it at the time this BB was the first one, but I can attest that even though there were many special cars that day, I could sense something extraordinary about this one. It truly had an appeal that actually made me take 4 pictures of it, so here are the other 3. I love these (but prefer them in 1 color) although certainly appreciate the older ones!

    Good day OttoB,

As I said, I am very thankful to you and others for taking the time to post up pictures, documents, and/or adventures, as I know all to well how much it all takes. To me, the least I can do is to show a bit of appreciation by saying thank you. So, thank you once again!

As for the first 512BB... There is a dedicated thread on this car in the BB Section which details its restoration, but also the various tidbits that had to be overcome during the process. Adding to the resto efforts, was the research and documentation of things that did not appear in later production 512BB's. Since this was the "first" 512BB, Ferrari was still somewhat transitioning from the 365BB to the 512BB and so a few running changes were made. All in all an intriguing bit of history and it is great that the car finally had its day in the "sun" ...if you forgive the pun :). Thanks again for the great pictures and for taking the time to post them!

    Cheers,

    Sam
