friendly neighborhood Carreaper guy here. why i cant sleep is beyond me, but i thought i would share the info about the Dino i just purchased. car is a 1974 308GT4 Series 1 USA spec car. *09562* October ,1974. car was owned and maintained by Greg Jones in Stuart Florida. Mr Jones aquired the car from a warehouse years ago in Wisconsin. Mr Jones also restores early exotic cars and is well known in the Vintage Ferrari / Racing community. engine has been rebuilt, heads are redone with stainless steel valves, ( no more sodium valves!), some massaging and port matching was done. dual crane x700 electronic ignitions added. ( I HATE POINTS, i am so happy !) carbs have been done. starter, alt, water pump have been done. water pump is 328 upgrade, cooling fans are upgraded also. Birdmans fuseboxes will go in the car ASAP! transaxle was also redone with all new syncros for the tranny. new wheel bearings and cv axles as well. ( this is over the last 4 years or so folks ) the interior needs to decide what color it wants to be when it grows up. by that i mean the dash is black, the seats, door panels, and headliner are Cream colored, and the carpet is dark tan with black floor mats....... WAY TOO MANY colors here folks! me thinks i will have a freind do the seats in tan or cream leather and replace all the carpet with black carpet. the 2 tone will go well with the red / black boxer paint. car had a super duper stereo that Greg II must have put much time into. i guess i am an old fart at 33 as i begged him to take the stuff out and reduce the price of the car. a/c is in a box where it belongs, i could care less about a/c in any older car, Camaro or Ferrari. it matters not to me! no cats, no airpumps, and the car has a brand new Ansa with new headers. i bet the little car sounds sweet. i plan on putting the airbox in my attic with the GTB's and add the seperate K&N aircleaners from Pierce Manifolds. i paid $13,000 for the car. bear in mind it has rust , no books , no tools and very few service records. the only rust that is of any concern is the rust around the windshield cowl. i will have it looked at as soon as the car arrives.i know folks here so i know what it will cost to fix. its just a car folks, relax. it will take years for the car to be scrapped just by the rust alone. the frames are clean, straight and rust free. will post driving impressions. once i get rid of the heavy bumpers i would like to see how the car compares to the 77GTB. i know the GTB i have is much faster and driver way different than my 78GTS did. i have no clue as to why. with some carb tweaks i hope to make the little DINO purr. i love the fact it has all the early Dino stuff. other than a set of shields on the fenders i will leabe the rest of the car alone, except for paint / rust repair. for what i got in it i figure i can chop it up and sell it to T-Rutlands for parts if i dont like the car , or it suffers a bad failure. belts and tensioners are due next year by time. i hate the wheels. they gots to go. also the huge bumpers need to go. if anybody has any fiberglass bumpers let me know. i dont care how beat up they are. they can be painted. with all the race cars running around, somebody must have a pile of GT4 stuff! thansk for taking the time to read all this. will post pics now. thoughts, advice, welcome!

Congratulations on your purchase. The Boxer paint option does make the car look quite "squat" and planted..... and for what it's worth, I think the wheels suit the black paint very well, silver wheels may "stick out" too much. Sounds like a very good buy, nice one.
thanks! i really like the gold wheels that are on ferrariads. i have to see what the car needsfirst. i dont want to waste the sellers time until i can pony up the cash! the Dino wheels would be cool, they have them, but they are not included with the car .
Michael, thanks for sharing your story and pictures. Good to hear there are still people who are looking for a driven car and not a showroomcondition car. Know for sure this car is even better then several garagequeens.
That's a bunch of car for 13K. Is that a stereo amp back in the engine compartment - where it can stay nice and cool?
I think those are the Crane ignition modules, not amps. Congrats Michael, you are definitely the car reaper! Can you find me a Dino for $13K too? I don't mind a little rust either. It's fixable! Oh nevermind, if I brought home another Fcar, even for $100, my wife would kill me. When you get the Lambo, are you selling the Dino? Birdman
SWEET!! I like it. I hope you have lots of fun with it. Re: Wheels. I agree with the comment above about black wheels. What about getting a set of 328 wheels and getting them painted in black? I was thinking I'd like to do that with my wheels at some point. Interesting that the black stripe is only on the hood, and not the top or rear of the car (although it looks like the area around the license plate in the back is also painted black). I wonder what it would look like with a stripe going the entire length of the car (i.e., on hood, top, trunklid, etc.). Anyone with good photochop skills want to try painting it??? Good luck, and let us know how it drives. (and don't forget the photos with the nekkid chicks ) Dom
Nice work. I do like the black wheels with the boxer paint. If it were me, I'd respray it all red and put on wheels from a 308 GTB, but that's me. Looks like a lot of car for $13K.
car had this ( pic) . i requested the seller keep all that ummm "stuff" and reduce the price since i did not need it. i love it when people brag on thier $4000.00 stereo's and then have to eat crow when i ask them to keep all that crap and drop the price . works every time. who needs a stereo when you have all that engine to enjoy! great idea on the wheels, its not the black i dislike, its the pattern. i would rather have the nerdy stock 14's on it. i am working on neekid chick pics.... the car wont be here until the weekend anyway!
The Dino looks really good with 16" 308 QV wheels. Just the right size for the car and the right style. As close to factory as you can get with the option of modern rubber. I have a real soft spot for these cars for some perverted reason. I like the wedge. I looked at one locally with the package shelf option but he wanted too much for the miles on the car, otherwise it was excellent.
Congradulations Carreaper! Man oh man, I hope you are getting the back seat put in, the interior as you have said is too many different colors. Nonetheless, it is very clean. Body paint scheme is something I have never seen on a GT4. Engine is spotless. You stole the car for that price.
Nice motor. As for the black wheels - it looks very "early Lotus Esprit" with those on.... Rip that stereo out and get it on ebay - got to be worth a few quid to somebody. Congratulations!
A lot of car for a little dough.....nice buy Mike !! Spend $300 and paint the front hood all red though.......I like the boxer trim and black wheels.
