Damn it. I've lost bragging rights on the cheapest solid driver Ferrari.

Oh wait, no I didn't. You bought a Dino.

Congrats, nice car. Should be a straight forward project for the items you mentioned.

BTW, I think it would look better in black than red...

Oh man! That stereo in the back seat is nasty!! I guess that's ONE way to be sure you can hear the stereo over the engine.....

Are there some seats that come with the car for back there?

    Judge....you got a Lambo too?

Yeah, my wife would say she would rather have fewer Ferraris and more garage space.

    Michael,

Congrats on a great purchase. I'll go on the limb and say that I like the wheels with the scheme; I'd have a different opinion if the car was all red.

I look forward to hearing your impressions. Good, smart buy. Dane

13K?? Thou Shalt Not Steal applies to Dinos too y'know :D

Seriously tho, that looks like a pretty clean car and I've always liked the Boxer paint scheme. You're getting a nice little collection of Italian iron!

thanks for the links and the info. mine is a series one 1974 and its not supposed to have the horsies on it. i am going to leave the Dino badges as they are or replace them with new Dino badges if required. the Ferrari horsies were added later to help sell the cars. i am looking to see if the Dino center caps will fit the ugly 16'' wheels on the car, or if i can put regular 308 14's on it and add the correct Dino wheel caps.

Does anyone know if it is possible to retrofit US Spec GT4's with Euro bumpers? If so, is it legal, and where would you source them?

Enjoy it in good health! I thought the car was in bad shape from your original description but it looks great in the pics. Thanks for your honesty in describing your car and the purchase itself....it gives us a real inside view. I always enjoy reading your posts.

thanks Rammer, the storm system in Florida delayed the driver. he showed up at 1am this morning with the car. i had to at work ( yes on a Sunday) at 4am. it was a rough day!!! :) i had my vin number wrong, seems its a 1974 Dino 308gt4 *09362*.

folks, this car is amazing underneath and inside. all the hoses of every type are new. the engine , diff and trans are so clean and leak free you can see your skin reflected in thier surfaces. the Crane x700's are great, one stab of the gas after priming the carbs and the car roars to life. the brakes seem a bit soft, perhaps they need to be bled or steel lines installed. i drove the car around my neighnorhood today to get a feel for it. the car is very quiet with the stock airbox on. the Ansa it has is also very quiet too. this is as compared to my 77GTB.

the GT4 has a different driving position from the gtb also. i got out of one and then drove the other. the neighbors all freaked out seeing 2 of them and knowing it was me :) . the Dino feels a bit heavier, but in a safe and solid way. the steering is very precise, all of the steering and suspension are new / rebuilt on the car. i really dislike the US bumpers, as soon as i have time to look i may carefully remove those rubber end caps to clean the lines up a bit in profile. i think the 16's help alot with the way the car feels, the wheels may be on the car for awhile, until i find cheap stick 14's. the rust issues will be priority. one thing i noted was that the car must have had the Ferrare script AND the Dino script on it at one time as there are plugs in the rear trunk lid with the right spacing. fuse blocks look ok from the front, but i will be sending Birdman his money monday for a set of new fuseblocks. mine in the GTB were in bad shape on the back side. though everything on the Dino works so far.

i am a big fan of the Pierce Manifolds individual aircleaners, but the GTB/GTS have much more airflow because of the number of louvers on the rear decklid. i am very concerned about installing the individual aircleaners and removing the stock airbox on the GT4 because of the lack of ventilation. the car has no a/c stuff in the engine bay, but neither does my GTB. the stock airbox is a pain in the butt to work around. i am on the fence as to install them or not. i will perhaps borrow the set off the gtb and see how they fit. its nice to steal stuff off of one to feed the other.

my idea that the euro turn signal lenses from a gtb/gts will work on a usa spec GT4 seem sound. the turn signals seem to be mounted upside down compared to the gtb/gts and my spare amber lenses from my gtb with thier different shape, fit the gt4, though longer screws will be required. i can steal the euro lenses off the gtb also and make sure they fit. the car deliver late, i had to work so i spent only a little bit of time with the car overall today. and it pouring rain from the tropical storm system. :(

the rubber bellows things to the airbox and oil cooler need to be replaced. the right window switch is broken, but the window will work if the switch is bypassed so the window motor tests as serviceable. a set of shield stickers from Ricambi and a few odds and ends and i will be set...... and i still have a new set of HILL aluminum pedals i can put in one of the 308's..... but which one?.... decisions, decisions. :) i may as well return the GTB back to stock with the airbox ect as its for sale anyway. when it goes, its Lamborghini time for me. Dino is here to stay unless someone wants it BADLY :) .

thanks for reading my ramblins, its DAY ONE of my gt4 /dino ownership. i will take her out for a long drive and give a better written report for all when time allows.

i really love bieng on here, THECARREAPER, (Michael M.)

Seems like you did your homework and got nice car for little $$$. Lets hope the rust is not too bad. How fast is she? How does she compare with the GTB?
