A few more details would be helpful. Which dealership? Model/year?

fear not where you get it after the PPI checks out.

p.s. all ferraris are pre-owned. your looking at a used one.

Whether it's a Ferrari dealership or not, the same rules apply. Get a thorough PPI, try to get records, etc. Even with pricing, if you do your homework you should be able to get a really good idea of the car costs.. With pre-owned Ferraris, you could get it from Maranello for all I care, you'd still need to do the same checks...

    Good luck.

FYI, if you are willing to post the specifics of the car, It's nearly certain someone will know the history of the exact car you are looking at.

Post the name of the dealership, we may be able to provide feedback. There are good dealerships in that area and bad ones. Simon's suggestion was great also, show the car you're interested in, the owner may even be on f-chat or someone may know the history of it.

I bought mine from a Lambo dealership in NC, and I've heard good things about places like Motorcars in MO. The Ferrari dealers don't generally seem like to handle older cars, so sometimes a reputable non-Ferrari dealer is your best bet.

One train of thought is that a Ferrari with looming Big Problems might get traded at a Chevy or other mass market dealer where no one knows enough about it to diagnose anything. So, I'd tread very carefully if that's the type of dealer you're looking at, and have the car inspected by a Ferrari expert.

When i was shopping, I was also advised that South Florida has a lot of the most beat-up and abused Ferraris in the country, and so would probably stick to the licensed dealers (you have at least 2), or one of the known cars on this board, if I had to shop down there. Or buy long distance -- all it takes is airfare and a reputable shipper to get the car home.

Post some DETAILS and we can be of more help to you. You might also want to post in the Florida section, someone may know the car you're looking at as well as tell you about the reputation of the dealer.

Whatever you do have a PPI performed by an independant 3rd party before purchasing any used Ferrari. We can also recommend good shops in South Florida to do that for you, but it would help to know what part of South Florida the car is in.

PLEASE have a proper inspection done BEFORE you make your purchase. I am not suggesting the car has to perfect. On the contrary, some small cosmetic or mechanical problems can help you negotiate a much better price. I am saddened when I read a thread about a person who has bought a car from a picture, and discovers some expensive problem upon delivery. It is risky enough buying an AS IS used Fcar.

To buy a used Ferrari without an informed inspection by a person familiar with Fcars is for someone who, to quote my friend "finds the gaming tables in Las Vegas, not challenging enough". :)

    Regards,
    Stew

Make sure any deposit you put on the car is with an American Express card. That one act protected me from a very bad deal with a south florida non ferrrari dealer. I ended up buying a 360 from a Ferrari dealer in the Chicago area.
