If you have purchased a US specification Ferrari from Ferrari Que I have some information that I am certain you will be very interested in knowing. This information is based on my experience of purchasing a 1995 355 US car from them. Please PM me since I do not want to share this information on the board in case there are folks from Ferrari Que browsing since they have given me no choice but to take legal action against them.

I am surprised that a dealer in one country can sell a foreign car new, unless Can has no rules of its own. If cars are getting seized for illegal bumpers, I guess they have some rules. Maybe you signed a paper that you were US citizen and would take delivery in US? IDK, but how did you pull that off to begin with? (I would like to go to Canada and save gas guzzler taxes, EPA and DOT surcharges.) Also, how would anyone know a US spec car originated outside US? By US spec, i assume you also mean US VIN? Come on, give us some details, inquiring minds want to know!

I'm not sure if you can buy a new US car from a Candian dealer but in any case that is not my situation. My car is a used one, its a 1995 F355 which I purchased from FoQ in June 2004. If you would like to know more details I am more then happy to share it with you via email or PM's.

Rumor has it that some guy in Ottawa had his car seized because "he" forged a different FMoQ invoice to reflect the purported dealer installation of CDN spec bumpers in order to pass RIV with a US car, when in fact nothing was ever changed.

Obviously that's not you since you stated that you purchased a car direct from the dealer......so maybe the story isn't true or it is in fact someone else and a valid incident after all.

Your correct that its not me but you are also correct that this did occur to someone. I don't know who it was or what city the car was seized from. I do know however from a reliable source that it was seized and that it was FoQ that actually reported the owner to Transport Canada.

There are lots of US cars suddenly showing up in Toronto - I looked at a few 355's in the summer. What with the strong Canadaian dollar, and a more "controlled" resale market in Canada, somebody is making good money by bringing these US cars into Canada and doing the conversion. The cars I looked at had very sketchy histories and as I wa snot able to even see proper service records from when theyu were in the US, I walked away. I was not told by the selling dealers that these were in facrt US cars. It was only when I insisted on service records that I could see it. I'm not even sure that there is any obligation on there behalf to tell sellers this. CAVEAT EMPTOR
