Hi everyone...I am in the process of getting a new 612. My current is a maserati color which is bordeaux pontevecchio....I luv it, but am thinking of looking into something similar from the Ferrari paint schemes. Does any one have pics of Rubino Micalazatto (something like that) or Rosso Metallic, Barchetta? Please it would help a lot....or any other darker reds.

    Thanks

    MJ

rosso metallica is not represented in the color swatches. my 308 gtb qv is rosso mettalica. when i bought the car from eddie karam, he indicated it was a rare color and thus usually special ordered. i am in so cal currently so i don't have any pics but i will post when i return east. i love the color and it looks very mature but super sexy on my gtb.

I don't have all my pictures to hand but Rosso Rubino Micallizato (spelling?) is what you want. I have seen a few 612s in it and it looks superb. Rosso Barchetta is a darkish non-metallic, Rosso Micallizato is a bit lighter than Rubino.

The 599 pictured below is Rosso Rubino.

    Jonathan,

thanks for the info, Rubino looks nice...that would probably look great on a 612. If you could get me some more photos of the reds especially of the Micallizato I would appreciate it. i saw it once on a 430 but i cant remember what it looked like exactly.

    Pete,

Looking forward to some pics....thanks again.

Check my profile for my 430 in Rubino Micalazzato. Ultimately, I decided I wasn't totally happy with the color as it has brown tones to it in the right lighting. Don't get me wrong--most of the time I loved it. But I would have ultimately preferred a "ruby red metallic" like is on some on the current Lexus vehicles, as that doesn't seem to have the brown shift tendency.

Here are a couple of pics of a Rubino 612 being sold in Milan's dealership- http://www.autoscout24.it/Details.aspx?id=131362334

I saw the car in person and I must say that it looks great in Rubino. Argento Nurburgring (classic silver) remains my favorite color the for the 612 though (with full cuoio interior)...it's all a very subjective matter.

Do a search here for my username and 612 and you should be able to find a handful of posts I've made in past with pics of our old 612 in Rubino Micalizatto. We loved the color and would happily recommend it. I always felt the color looks best in bright sunny light where it just sparkles with all the metal flake. As said earlier, it does take on differing shades especially under artificial lights, or under cloudy skies. I don't recall thinking it looked brown, but it did look quite different at times. Mostly in the overcast Pacific Northwest US, people who commented tended to see it as a burgundy like color.

Hi guys, Thanks for the links....they are helping out a lot. I have only a few months before my options are finalized. Yes that is a picture of my current car. I love it....the reason i want to change is I also have a Grantourismo in the same color...and want a different shade....if i cant find something then i will order the same color again. But I think Ferrari should be able to have something that is spot on....they always do.

Please keep the pics comming.....what is prugna?

It has a bluish cast. The color is variously called "plum", "eggplant" or the French word for eggplant "aubergine."

Guys thanks for the help, any other reds interesting for a 612? The Prugna is too dark and purple...but i saw it on a 599...looks great...but not my taste.

Eric, some the searches i made with your name and 612 where very helpful, but some links are no longer there. Thanks very much for the pics...they gave me a very good idea of the color. It is very close to bordeaux pontevecchio....I have to say it even pops a bit more in the light...but shares the same charachteristics in the dark.

    MJ.

I love this color on the 599. But It might be too bright for me on the 612. Its still just gorgeouse.

Obviously it all boils down to personal tastes. I do however think that seeing all of the colors you are considering in person would be very helpful in making a decision (if you haven't already). Photos may often distort the qualities of a given color.
