That appears to be a "remote control" for the SD1

I think it is the remote for the SD1. I only used the remote a couple of times and it has been at least 10 years. The only real way for any of the SD's to be particularly useful is for it to be used as an interface with a computer. On their own they don't do much and in the case of the SD1 it didn't do anything on it's own. That allows you to operate it from the drivers seat instead of standing at a key board. Like I said, I never found it to be important or useful.

Jhoel, Brian- Thanks. For about $1000, I did not think it was anything particularly useful.

Always looking for a cheap way to set PIS here in the hinterlands. So far, no luck, but hopefully some things coming down the pike.

I hear you Terry..I am 100mi and 2hour ferry ride from ANY diagnostic equipment.. it sucks..

Honestly, those of us that are true enthusiasts that own older cars and enjoy working on them as much as driving them, need to have the comfort of being able to troubleshoot our own cars without entertaining the dealers/specialists. The release of (at least) an SD1 type diagnostics tool to the public domain, is, I am sure in many minds, a fair request. Why not charge $3000 for an SD1 and continue to protect the investors of the SD3 and ST05 for the next 10-years.

Ferraris level of support to the licensees of the SD2 and 3 seems pathetic to say the least, and clearly demonstrates that they care less. I am not surprised that the SD user network hasn't revolted (I guess, really, the ST05 is a product of that lack of support).

Ideally I would love to see the SD1 available at a fair price from someone (even Ferrari) to support the owners and enthusiasts of older cars.. perhaps that is simply wishful thinking.

All else failing.. as time goes by, people will simply eventually remove/ bypass all the electronics systems as they get too old or troublesome to service.. and ruin perfectly original cars.

Why cant we all band together and a) figure out how to RE and produce affordable SD type diagnostics or B) the long shot, have Ferrari reproduce SD for pre 2000 cars for general consumption.

I am used to the analog days.. my 355 is the first (and last) car I will own that is not DIY enhanced diagnostics supported.

Ill spearhead a project if anyone is interested. Jan
