I personally don’t believe that there is enough supply of viable project Fcars or examples that owners are willing to sacrifice to non-stock mods to make a sustainable business like Singer has done with Porsches. As has been pointed out, Singer originally built their business on sub $20K 964s when they weren’t appreciated by the mainstream air-cooled crowd. Now Singer has the credibility and prestige to work with more expensive examples and still be profitable. Can someone do that with Fcars? Maybe? It just doesn’t seem as likely to me.

Now, where I DO see a lot of potential Singer-like opportunity is with the 986 and 987 platform Boxsters (and 987 Caymans). They’re stupidly inexpensive, a great platform, and not too dear as there were over 150K of them made. Their greatest weaknesses are actually opportunities for bespoke modifications to take the cars to the next level - bigger motors, better brakes/suspension, nicer wheels, nicer interiors, and body mods to make them closer to the original concept car. Definitely not Ferrari restomods but seems like a great opportunity.

Ohh sorry. Somehow I missed it. It was bothering me that I said 308 with an f40 motor and then randomly while walking in a store I was like... Nope it's a dino... And I found the link and posted it.

    Sorry about that

Hey no need to apologise whatsoever! I actually didn't realise the block was that of an F40 - thanks for the info :)

our choice for a restomod is the e-type.

we bought 65 etype about 30 years ago. not matching numbers, but in decent shape.
as i was driving it the 500 miles home from the purchase location, i was rear ended by a semi truck about 25 miles from home.
that was scary and disappointing.....we had it repaired but it was not done well.

then about 15 years ago, we decided to have it done right and it was redone using many newer parts, like brakes, transmission, suspension etc.
    it ran very well.

then about 6 years ago, it was one of the victims of our partial house fire...

so......needless to say, this car had been through the ringer....a perfect candidate for doing something more creative with it.

i wanted to make it into a lightweight, but my father wanted an Eagle Speedster, and since it was his car....we are making it into a speedster.

3 years on, and lots and lots and lots of money....we are nearly there.

we kept the same drive train and mechanicals, but improved where we could.
stuck a big 'lightweight' rear end on it. and in general strove to make it look like this

hoping to take delivery before xmas this year, and start entering it into some shows.

they made nearly 80k e-types of all kinds.
about 80% of them are rough and unloved, but still have the most beautiful lines, and lots of potential....

And that's why there are other manufacturers you can choose from if you want to modify your car and have people encourage you to do so.

Trust me. I need no encouragement from a bunch of fake car guys who can't even change their own oil.
