Anyone recommend anyplace in particular for reliable quality service around Atlanta outside of FOA?
I go to European Auto Care Center in Tucker. They are affiliated with Old World Motorcars, which specializes in the older model Ferraris.
If your looking for paint service, detailing type services one of the best detailers in the country resides in ALT by the name of Bryan.
Todd, Thanks for your kind words. If you are looking for quality paint care from professionals who have a passion about your paint, please send me a PM. Thanks, Bryan Peachstate Detail
Granted I'm biased because I work here, but you should check out Flashback Motorworks. We have a technician by the name of Steve Kellet. He has been factory trained in many various Ferraris including the F355 (I looked at your profile and assume that is what you still have). He has worked at Ferrari of Atlanta and even with FAF when they were around. And you will probably find we have one of the best rates available. And if you need paint or body work: we do it all in house. I would really reccomend you come up and check us out. We are located between exit 13 and 14 on GA400. I concur that Steve Kellet is a great Ferrari tech. However, for Ferrrai paint and body work, Bo Pirkle in Tucker is the benchmark from which all others are judged.
I would be VERY careful with Flashback Motorworks, get everything in writing up front. If you want more details you can PM me. Sorry, Martin.
Andy, no problem. Everyone should be able to speak their opinion, that is why this guy asked. Things have changed however since you were last here, being that now we have a very experienced Ferrari technician. He is familiar with many various procedures and the time it takes to do them. Martin
Jim Weed is another one of the faf crew, but I heard he has recently closed his Tucker shop. Not sure if he retired or is still turning wrenches somewhere.
Carsen Cornell at MB1 in mid town (sports cars of atlanta) does Ferrari work also. 770-226-6483 along with The other Guys listed. What are looking to have done?
Right now to get an aftermarket exhaust installed. Maybe in the future, headers, cats, etc. I will probably still take to FOA for major service.
any truth to the rumors that FOA is no longer sending work to pirkle (hearing many customer complaints) and now uses Magnum collision ?
Don't know but I've had work done at Magnum before (non-Ferrari) and was VERY impressed with their work.
I agree with Andy. I would also get an itemized written estimate and take pictures of your car before ever consider getting work done with them. I had my 348 worked on there ONCE!
Your best bet on an after market exhaust installation is somewhere like Midas...why pay an extra 'Ferrari surcharge' for a muffler install?
Yes use Bo pirkle he is the best it will be perfect. If you need the exhaust done send me a PM The job should take about 3-4 hours depending on the system you want and how well it fits?
Has anyone on Fchat gone to this shop? It is where FAF was located. What can you tell me about it? Old World Motorcars Ltd Thanks, Greg
Ironically, I was just there today. My headlights had stopped popping up, and Terry Girome very quickly found the reason: a shorted wire that was causing the fuse to blow. The car was fixed and I was out of there in 45 minutes! Old World is affiliated with European Auto Care Center (formerly Deutschland Automotive) nearby on Lavista Road. Old World specializes in the older front-engined Ferraris--my visit today was an exception, as I usually go to European--while the other facility deals with the mid-engine models.
