4 cylinder 3-liter according to AR. That would cover a 750 Monza. Is it sure it is Barberis on the photos you posted ? Any chance he had a Monza already at this point ?

All the period newspapers describe Vasco Sameiro’s car (0444MD) as the most modern and powerful Ferrari car ever seen in Brasil then for me, there is no chance another pilot already had a brand new 750 Monza in March 1955 in Brasil. It’s like these old reports saying that Paulo Lanat raced a 121 LM. We know now he was raced 0072M.

Paul Maret was 8th and Michel Poberejsky ("Mike Sparken") was DNF, he stopped after smelling burning rubber from his tires (but gave "clutch" as official reason)

    Still Sebring 1955 :

Any truth in the story that Lippmann initially entered his 250 Monza 0442M, only for the engine to fail in practice and the entry being taken over by Edwards’ 0428 MD ?

Also entered with number 12 was Chester Flynn’s, apparently with a 340 Mexico that DNS ?

Meanwhile in Italy on March 13 was the Coppa del Mare e dei Monti. Guido Petracchi placed 3rd o/a with a 500 Mondial, I reckon 0468 MD.

0442 M was entered by Lippmann in Chinetti’s NART stable for the 4th Annual Sebring 12 hours for Chester J. Flynn (a General Motors executive) and Sterling Edwards but they were unable to start because the US mechanics managed to foul up the timing of the engine.

Many years ago, Manfredo Lippmann my dear friend, he told me that a Ferrari was stolen from him. Anybody know anything about that story?

I forget the details he told me. One I remember is about him calling Jaroslav Juhan, of the Carrera Panamericana, a BIG crook. Another thief.

Manfredo was a very wealthy Guatemalan, and many people tried (and did) swindle him, as probably many of you knew (of) him, was a terrific fellow, a true gentleman.

I am mentioning, possibly in the wrong thread, but 1st time I see his name here, besides the OSCA I posted on the 250LM thread.
    Thank you.

    Regards, Alberto
