picked up the 430 after it had been getting some things done, and was driving back to river oaks on I-10 from dairy ashford, and i got a ticket for doing 80.......

now if anybody out there knows I-10, they will know that 80 is just about the normal speed for everything on wheels.

    pretty pissed off frankly.

i see stupid aholes in challengers doing 120 thru there on a regular basis, or ancient pickups held together with twine doing 80, but no, they have to pick up the red ferrari keeping up with traffic.....

I-10 sucks. I either keep it to 10 over or go fast enough to make it worth it to take defensive driving :)
But that's also why I never bought a red car.
The day I got my 458 I made it 2 miles from my house before I passed a sheriff doing 20 over. He must have been having a good day since he just hit the lights for a second and went about his day.

Pretty easy to get a ticket on that part of I-10. I got one a few years back in my Porsche. What ticked me off about mine was that he claims to have gauged my speed from the access road (my V1 didn't go off). Granted it was the middle of the night, and not many cars out, still seems ridiculous.

Anyway, if you view speeding tickets the way I do; it's just the cost of doing business (habitual speeder). I get mine every couple of years, I don't get too worked up unless I get more than one in a year.

Having said that, I get where you're coming from. I've seen some terrible reckless speeding in and around I-10. It is irritating when you're just "speeding safely", while the other guys never get busted, and they're causing near accidents.

Yes, that area of I-10 is horrible. All the way to 610. 610 area might be the worst. Where the HOV lanes ends and they have plenty of room to sit all day.

80mph on I-10 is almost a traffic hazard. I took the 308 for a drive on Saturday and decided to try and get a speeding ticket (I had been watching the opening to Cannonball Run on loop for the last day or so...) since I haven't had one in probably 20 years. I literally couldn't get a cop to pull me over... went by him at 85mph on the Fort Bend toll road (65mph limit). They passed me a bit down the road!

I did get the 308 up to 115-120 out of town a bit on an empty bit of road. Pretty fun motor to ring out, really, even if not overly powerful.

Gonna have to try harder next time.

What's the best way to deal with a ticket once you have one? Good traffic lawyer or just ask to take defensive driving?

Post a Non Refundable Bond, to the Court, request "Deferred Adjudication" and 90 days later they take the bond and your charges are dropped.
You do have to "be good" for the 90 days, or it all falls down..

Not only does the DDC take 8 hours of your life, but to me the close out documents, requesting your own State Driving records, and then taking them back to Court, are just too burdensome. there's fee for the records as well,

i remember the beginning of the covid lockdown. everyone was driving very fast. not much traffic either. i was taking my rx7 cym out to katy. got on i-10 at the loop. i know they run radar along that stretch. being bright yellow, i kept it at 65. everyone was blowing by me. so i sped up a little, only to still get blown by. so i decided to roll with the flow. turns out everyone was doing 90mph in the middle of a saturday afternoon. i may have demonstrated for a short stretch that i was capable of a lot more. but that's a story for another day.

The best invention since the very first Escort sniffed out every radar gun prior to instant on is an app called Waze. It’s essentially a social media app with active map where users call out the location of road hazards and police.
There are plenty of users so if it’s a fairly traveled bit or road you will have a couple miles notice of what’s ahead.

Situational awareness— at the crest of every turn and overpass tap brakes and expect a leo

    it’s a driving game I play — finding the best hiding spots….

when I was a kid my dad would drive his 70’s caddi at 85 mph w a broken speedo… we knew he was going over 80 when the psgr seat vibrated…. My brother and my jobs were to watch for leo out the front and rear. If he got a ticket we got in trouble…. We developed a great countermeasure he never got a speeding ticket….
