I'm looking for a trustworthy Ferrari Tech (preferably independent) in the Belmont Shore/Los Angeles/OC area. Looking to get my first Ferrari and I want to make sure I've got a good shop to take her to if need be.

    Thanks

    Michael

    Michael,
Only, only, only Carl from Blackhorse.
Authorized Ferrari dealers are in it for one thing and it ain't to insure how your car runs/performs.
I mentioned Carl several months back in a posting because of how incredibly awesome he and his guys are. Like yourself, I just picked up my first Ferrari in February and had the same concerns. Above all the others, I was told Carl. He does my major service slightly cheaper (355 F1 Spyder) than a dealer would have which isn't the big issue here. The big issue was that about a month later, I had a terrible squeeking start to develop and after spending $200 at "an authorized Ferrari dealer" it was worse. Basically, they hadn't done a damn thing to help my problem. I go back to Carl thinking I had a major problem and he basically figures out that the pads, which the previous owner had changed out, weren't set up properly for my car. Not only does he change the pads for me without any charge for the labor, he also doesn't charge me a dime for the pads themselves. Now I'm not saying to expect something for nothing but having done my major, he was just truly more concerned with how my car was running and that I was completely happy/satisfied with the outcome. Forget Ferrari's, when does that happen in business period.
You buy your Ferrari, you only go to Blackhorse!!

Last time I checked, an alignment machine makes the car drive straight, not go faster....

That depends on what you mean by faster.... A screwed up alignment will make you nothing but slow on a race track.

Before you make any decision contact Larry Englehart at Ferrari Tech in Orange. He has maintained my Daytona and 308GTS for years. The work is excellent, on time and VERY reasonable. Like you said, Ferrari Tech!!!

It's very apparent you have no idea what you just said. Most of the f-cars out there are not driving straight. An f-car that does not drive straight pushes against itself then drives slower.

A straight car will (on the streets and on the track) go faster.

"Eugenio," is the only Ferrari mechanic I can recommend. The trouble is to schedule with him you might have to wait a while, but when he takes your car he works on it until it is done, and done right. He did a major on my 1986 328 GTS and fixed a ton of little things along the way. Many things that should have been caught by some of the others mentioned here. He gives you pictures on everything he is doing, and his prices are great.

If you ever have trouble he will even make a house call, try getting Blackhorse to come to your house to fix something; dnd I like Carl a lot.
