Ferrari Testarossa 88 , interior ...mold!

    the car was neglected, got some water too and the result was ....see the before pictures: mold everywhere: doors , dash , seats , trims , everywhere!
    all being leather i went with 2 passes of meguiar`s leather cleaner conditioner and a soft brush, the towels i wipe with had some green dirt of them after wipe.
    plastic trims got meguiar`s m40 , and some of them optimum protectant.
    Main focus was to bring interior in a better shape,and even with that the leather may need some more work.the car is a project and will see some body work too. NO Paint Correction here , was just wash with onr and got some wax s100.
    seats and doors has a lot of scuffed in the leather.
    sorry guys , no car show here! just some light improvement in interior.

    A couple of things may help... 1. Sun it. Bright hot sun with lots of UV will help. 2. Stick a few "thristy hippos" dehumidifiers in the car after cleaning it. I always have a couple in my car as its pretty humid in Singapore.

    I think you may want to strip the interior out of that car and get at the insulation beneath the carpets, underneath the trim, under the headliner (etc) -- that's where your long-term problem with mold (weird smells, etc) will come from.

    agree, the panels should come out and strip the interior to get ridof the mold and smell, plus some days in the sun ...
    long way to go..

    The car may or may not have been exposed to water. I've seen (and owned) cars that over time (long-term storage) have resulted in moldy interiors similar to this TR. The problem occurs when the car is closed up and stored in a building that has humidity issues.
    If you store a car in these conditions, crack the windows to allow the interior to breath and put a moisture barrier under the car to prevent the mold and rust that will eventually occur. Plastic sheathing or tarps work well.

    Have you had the car on a lift to check for rust on the exhaust system and suspension?

    Having just been through this in a 328, your 'solution' is not a solution at all unless you're planning on stuffing air fresheners under the seat and flipping the car.

    The water and mold are in the carpet backing and behind the door panels and in the foam of the seats, and the smell will -never- go away until all of that is properly replaced.

    edit: oh yeah -- did you get inside the seat belt rollers?

    you have to remove all of the panels, carpets, seats, etc. You are only covering the visible mold areas but probably have twice as much hidden from view.
