Right now, with Formula E basically being a "stock-car" formula it's of little use to Ferrari because there's just too little that they can really influence. The possibility of F1 becoming an electric car series is growing by the day though, and Ferrari know that if that should happen, then any experience gained from Formula E could be valuable, especially if the rules get altered and allow manufacturers more influence over the design and development of the cars. The lure of having Ferrari in their series would be tempting for Formula E as it would give the series masses of additional credibility and interest from both the media and fans. The problem is, if they were to give in to what would be needed to get Ferrari on-board, then they would pretty much be guaranteed to lose the close racing that they have, and Formula E would end up with far more dull races, such as the ones we see all too often in F1. As it stands, Ferrari competing in Formula E wouldn't suit Ferrari, and it wouldn't suit Formula E either. It does seem though, that Ferrari are slowly resigning themselves to the fact that the days of racing internal combustion engine race cars are slowly coming to an end, and they need to be ready for the next evolution of motor racing. I originally thought Formula E was a joke, and having watched this weekend's Formula E race, it's still lacking a lot due to the lack of noise, vibrations and smells, but it's starting to look as though an evolution of Formula E will be all we'll have for F1 in the future! - Sadly!
