Thinking forward to when the only cars that can be manufactured are hybrids, how do you think Ferrari would do in that market? So joining the rat race while they can do both and ensure the sucessfull continuation of the brand into what is the inevitable future, simple really.

I'm looking forward to how they will implement KERs into a road car. I dont think it'll be like a toyota prius at all.

Hybrid technology using electric motors to the wheels will result in a faster car. Has nothing to do with gas mileage.

    Nothing wrong with that.

It has a little to do with getting better gas mileage. It will allow Ferrari to say their new super car has more power and gets better gas mileage than the Enzo.

I think they're just doing it so they can tout the "green" thing. Everyone has to play that game these days if they want to stay on top.

I think it's win win for the manufacturer.

    1. It should make the car very fast from what I read.
    2. It qualifies as a hybrid/possible fuel efficient car. Manufacturers are required by U.S. regulations to get stricter and stricter overall fuel efficiency for their cars. However, it applies to overall production. So, a company can make lots of gas guzzlers and throw in just enough hybrids and they will meet the standards. I figure, even if the "hybrid" doesn't actually get that great of mileage, just having the title "hybrid" may count for something.

Could be a winner all around.

Better to be Canon than Kodak. By the time Kodak embraced digital photography, it was too late.

I think this will help in California to keep the politicians happy. CA is one of their biggest markets.

I don't blame Ferrari as the OP wants to. It's political decisions that design automobiles today more than engineers.
