Can't find anything on it. Do know he's a DJ though, which is probably his first passion and will continue that. Nice options to have!

On the other hand, less restrictive regulations can actually result in higher development costs than highly defined design parameters...

The sentence is factual either way it is spun. The question is: how does it apply to F1? I have a hard time believing that blank sheet regulations will reduce costs.

Bourdais was 4 times CART champion, and at one time a candidate to drive for Renault alongside Alonso, I believe.

Bourdais didn't fit with Toro Rosso and left in acrymony. He won in IRL since, although he isn't an oval specialist. Opinions are that he was "too old" when he arrived in F1, and with his previous experience didn't like to be treated like a rookie.

Toro Rosso has been rumoured to be a carreer springboard for some and a dead end for others, depending how you are accepted.

Save for a couple of decent showings, Vettel absolutely annihilated him. A rookie beating a highly experienced racing driver. I'm not saying Bourdais sucks. but he was just not up to the level of Vettel and others, on top of that, he was old too like you say...no reason to keep him around.

I'm not sure what you mean with accepted. Surely results count (or at the very least promising showings, if the car was unreliable or others crashed you out). Most people in F1 are highly intelligent and know when they spot someone special.

I don't think many saw a future champion in Bourdais, or a driver able to solidly back up a #1 teammate. Otherwise they'd have shown the faintest bit of interest.

Vergne is one of the unlucky ones. Just no seats available. But look at his replacements. Wow. That said...when the Red Bull seat opened up, Ricciardo seemed to be faster and more consistent.

The path that leads to a TR seat is far better, even if they don't stay in F1, than the majority of drivers would ever experience in their lifetime.

There are about 20 F1 seats...and drivers aren't dieing off very quickly like they used to.
