So I had some custom floor mats made in Alacantra with the Ferrari Tricolore stripe and text. I was thinking about getting this (https://www.ebay.com/i/323654683616?chn=ps) to add above the rear trunk lid emblem to tie it all in. I saw one on a 458 this weekend at cars and coffee and it looked great!

The floor mats will be in Thursday and the car is getting Novitec Lowering Springs, ADV1 wheels, new tires, full frontal PPF, paint correction and Ceramic Pro 9H over the next two weeks. After that, she's done. I don't want to over do it but I need to update the looks a tad with small details and make it fresh. Thoughts on the tricolore badge on the trunk lid, yay or nay?

I love your tricolore mats. ;)

Yes, I have that badge on my Cali30 and it looks great. IMO, it's quite subtle, classy and just completes the look, like the ones on your mat. Ferraris are the pride of Italy, completely designed and made in that country and so deserve to feature an Italian flag. So yay, go for it!

There's just one caveat - the Cali trunk is curved across its width so unless the badge is custom-made for that location, you will have to carefully shape it for a perfect fit. It's not too difficult to do but should be done against a mould you make from the lid, and not on the actual trunk lid.

I think it'll look great on your black Cali. It'll give it a little pop of color. Great mats...T

Very interesting! Do you happen to have closeup pics of yours? How did you do the mould?

My garage is at 2°C and Spring is still 4 months out but here's a shot of my badge.

As for making a mould, AFAIK it's always done by shaping a temporarily soft or a malleable material/gadget to the delicate surface and then copying or transferring the form of that mould onto something hard and sacrificial. You then place the final material, the badge in this case, against the hard sacrificial material and "make it fit". It's fun and rewarding to do so enjoy the process. A tuner that fit expensive aftermarket kits should also be able to fit the badge for you.

Sure! I contacted [email protected] and I expressed some design ideas. He then rendered each version and I was able to really fine tune what I wanted. All down to the stitch color, materials, embroidery, etc. I never thought I'd buy bespoke floor mats for $575 but I guess I'll see if it was worth it Thursday when they show up!

I have mats from Andrew on my Cali as well. Worth the $$$. They really pep up the interior.

@Jongbeau - somewhere on F-chat are a few threads with some of Andrew's work. I think it is in 458 section.

Full disclosure, I saw a similar set for a 458 that Andrew did for another F-chatter. With my diamond stitched seats, I said, "I am so stealing that idea!"

Did I see that you were installing black wheels? If so, any pics of them on the car?

So yesterday I snapped some pics with my Sony A7rii of the car in it's stock form. And today it was lowered on Novitec Springs, swapped for ADV1 Wheels, Nitto rubber and I'm waiting on the center cap adaptors still to move the stock center caps over. But here's some porn for ya!
