i noticed this dolphin lookin Acabion thing is claiming sum stupid numbers in a straight line...Im talking like a 470 mph top speed...180 to 280mph in 9 second? yea right...i kno for a fact Ferrari has a machine that can beat this....think about it F1 car "no drag"...i think this thing is rediculous...can it turn with its little training wheels....it cant be a track car...the training wheels would break.....i bet there are many "beast machines" to come out of Maranello to smack this thing....i dont believe any of its numbers....

    Take a guess...
The Acabion is basically an enclosed motorcycle. The engines are Hayabusa-based (but tweaked to massive hp numbers) and the 'training wheels' only deploy at low speeds or in unstable conditions.

While I generally disbelieve most new/unproven manufacturers' claims of speed and acceleration, the power to weight ratios on this concept would be significantly better than even a McLaren F1. Claimed top speed numbers are simply outrageous, and (if substantiated) I'm frankly not sure the average consumer should be allowed a vehicle capable of such speeds without special training and licensing.

That said, I think it's rather unattractive- I'm reminded of Paul MacCready's ultralights more than any road vehicle- and it would never replace a Ferrari, Lambo, Porsche or any of a myriad selection of other rides as combination boulevard cruisers as well as capable track machines.

It will be interesting to see if it lives up to the hype (or for that matter, if it even sees production!).

    Regards,
    Tad

Why would Ferrari even want to try to beat it? This is a long wheelbase motorcycle with a hopped up engine.... smaller aerodynamic profile then a car... and big hp wins mixed with the aero profile. power/weight ratios don't mean much against the forces exerted by the air at speed... it only makes a significant difference from 0-100 times.

"know for a fact ferrari has something that can beat this"

uhhh, sure, keep dreaming.. they haven't ever aimed at making something stupid like this motorcycle. It's pointless

i wouldnt say that.you mean to tell me that Ferrari, with the highest ranked institute in automotive technology has nothing that cant beat this.all i gotta say is,1 of those little TT 1.5L F1 car from the 80's.."no drag" if u kno what i mean.they have plenty of Prancing horses that will beat this, given the right setup. Ferrari should go for the land-speed record.

The americans rule that group for internal combustion engines, while the brits have it on turbines.

Ferrari's just aren't the right tool for the job.

1500 hp isn't nearly enough to win a high speed contest on the Salt Flats.... also, there is a reason why they aren't entered in "shoot outs" like the Standing Mile and such.

how could a vehicle of that shape stay standing while producing these quoted speeds regardless of the "training wheels"?
