OK Guys, I've asked the Lambochat guys what they think, Guess I need your opinions too, I'm a Ferrari guy through and through, but of late the so called "dark side" has been tempting me, with those Batwing antics and flashy doors, It would mean giving up Ferrari ownership in favour of a Diablo or possibly a Murcielago Argento
don't do it! just like you said, Lambo uses "antics" to sway you over. whereas, the Ferrari is classy, has a lot of history, the Lambo is more "pimp"! like they say, stallions for the race-track and bulls for the farm!
ouch....that stings a little bit. argento, i've had my shares of f-cars and lambos. i currently own an orange diablo 6.0. hard to compare them. like my own children w/ distinct personalities, i love them both "equally but differently". my 360, for ex. was more daily friendly whereas my 6.0 is a bit more cumbersome and requires a bit more planning effort. my only advice to you is to get some seat time in the diablo or murci. appreciate them for what they are and recognize them for what they are not. i wouldn't acquire them solely on the basis of look alone (granted, i must admit those wing doors are pretty cool ). best of luck to you in your search.
I think it's a matter of personal taste. Try em out, and find out what you like. No matter what you choose, you will end up with 1 of the best cars in the world! (I would always take any ferrari over any lamborghini, but thats just my opinion... )
Best decision one can make ! Besides a better car, you will also buy into a cooler group of people who appreciate their cars for what they are today and not what they used to be 40 years ago. Lambo cars are faster, look much better, attract more positive attention and are more reliable and cheaper to maintain. WIN-WIN-WIN-WIN situation.
Okay now it's personal If you buy a lambo, you just get a jumped-up Audi, with some fancy doors - Yeehaa. Buy a Ferrari! You get the history, the power, the beauti - And a Ferrari engine... Not a Fiat engine. Ferraris just are better!
It really is your call, go drive them both and see what you think. They are both excellent exotic cars. For me it was a clear buy with the 550. I test drove so many cars and the ferrari felt like it had a life of its own. Its very hard to explain go drive them both and you will understand.
Why do you feel this way? He is certainly entitled to his opinion.....and, IMHO, it is no less insulting (or less worthy/relevant, for that matter) than this post... However, the following is more of a useable/level headed comparision....less offense...more information.... And finally, this post is more reminiscent of my own purchase experience When I was looking to "trade up" my '95 355, it came down to two final choices...a 2001 Diablo 6.0 or a 2001 550...they both cost exactly the same, were in great condition/low miles, and both from the dealer. I had really enjoyed my previous experience with F-car ownership (after a long line of P-cars...) and thought maybe a forray to the dark side would be an exciting change of pace. However, when I sat in both cars, tried them out, and researched other respective owners posts, the clear choice for me was the 550. Sure, the Diablo was hot looking and super sexy...but I felt it was so much less comfortable/practical then the 550, probably less reliable too. For my intended use, I chose the 550. That being said....if you have a different use, need a less practical overall car, the super hot looks and exotic nature of the Lambo might just be more to your liking. Choices, they sure are nice to have! Just get the one that floats your particular boat the most...and screw what anybody else says!
From what I can tell the 550 has dropped in price and the 6.0 has increased in price in the last year. A cheap 6.0 is still in the 155k range and up and a 550 is under 120k . Foreign Cars sold a 575 with 18k miles for 135.
my previous post is not meant to choose a car. Just a point of interest and hopefully no feelings hurt.
I'm a Ferrari fan too (CS/575). I like the Mercie. Its the only Lambo that really does it for me. The diablo looks dated (sorry diablo fans ). There's some good buys on mercies out there. I like Italian things. If Lambo goes any more German, then thats it for me (I'd stick with Ferrari and a Porsche-on-the-side in that case).
Guys, That sure is a diverse range of comments...I am already a Ferrari Owner (550 & Daytona) and have been for a great number of years, This weekend I've pondered my own reasoning about even thinking about a Lamborghini, and come up with - I've worked hard to be able to afford the car(s) of my dreams and now I have attained them, I guess I'm hankering after something else instead of being satisfied with what I have, Thousands would be more than happy to be in my ownership position, (I hope that doesn't sound conceited), but because I have what I always wanted, I then wanted something different !!! I have relegated thoughts of owning a Lambo to the abyss, hopefully never to return, (I'll let you know?) - I feel born again ! Argento
So that means you decided to get a Lambo? (Sorry, don't understand Shakespearean English that well) If yes then congrats ! You will NEVER look back. Keep the Daytona (that will provide you with the Ferrari fix) and get the Murcie. I promise you that the day you get a Lambo you will pack up all your Red Ferrari *** cloths and will run to drop them off at your local Goodwill branch. If it means you keep your Ferraris then good luck and drive them in good health (and no need to turn in the Ferrari *** cloths to Goodwill)
To paraphrase I believe he's dis-inclined to acquiesce to his temporary desires of a lamborghini... means NO.
Both Lambos offered today are very heavy plus have 4wd which takes away from the driving experience kind of like training wheels on a bike, Ferraris have a long pedigree of racing and mystique and the public is enthralled to see one, Ferraris also have many more club events and drives than Lambos. Lambos are also different sounding than Ferraris, the V8 Ferraris have flat plane cranks, the Gallardo V10 does not, the Lambo V12s are high pitched at high rpms Ferraris have more of a deep wail.
Agree about the heavy 4wd. Disagree about the events, check out my socal events for the Lambo guys. I like the sound of my Murcie with the MS Racing Stage II exhaust but to each his own.
Lambos do look "cool", which is great for drawing attention from kids. As far as style and performance, go with the F car. If you want to simply have people look at you and need the attention, pick up a Skittle colored Lambo.
Lambo should drop the AWD design. Is it *really* needed anyway? I would be more interested in the mercie if it were lighter and handled a little better. Its a really nice car, I just think I would tire of the handling after a few months. I really like the looks though. In orange or green for me.
Kids don't lie, they call it as they see it, it takes a lying adult to say the Ferrari looks attractive. People think it's a "Ferrari" hence the looks of it must be cool which isn't the case with most f-cars. Ferraris are overrated in most cases, none of them really look exotic to begin with (Enzo is an exception, best car in the world IMO). Like mentioned before, I would too like to see a lighter 2WD Murcie with lighter handling but it is what it is.... I also wouldn't mind to see an exotic looking Ferrari that doesn't look like Toyota Supra or Hyundai Tiburon... Wishful thinking I guess, none of which will happen.
And nobody will take your comments seriously if you go off making half-cocked ridiculous statements like that. You want us to believe there are no adults that think any Ferrari's look attractive? Who do you think buys these cars?
And a imbecilic adult to refer to Ferrari "*** clothes". Probably more true than we care to know Guess the Lambo p3nis enhancers won't be needed by Argento either. Joe, go back to Ellen's world. I like Lambos a lot, but many owners/fans on the net make the Vette owner stereotype look tame. Utterly no appreciation for nice cars like the Islero, the Espada, even the Muira. Doesn't make people look at them enough. Sad.
