I didn't mean to pick on you scycle2020, just wanted to post some cool pics.

I don't like the back of either one. But Lambo did everything else right, so I can over-look it.

Hell....I left a 360CS for dust on a mountain road in my SL55. So much of this numbers game as far 0 to whatever and G's, are user dependent. I have been an FCA regional director and can't get more that a couple of Fcars to the track....but throw an event at a restaurant and give them 'show off' parking and the whole club shows....as long as the drive isn't too far....God forbid anyone puts miles on their cars!

I will continue to own AND drive my Fcars....but I WILL buy a Gallardo, It's nice to see some real exotic competition for Ferrari....hopefully it will improve the breed...because lately they have lost the plot.

Jeff M, Mike550,and the rest of the 'Ferrari at any cost' brigade....what's so 'sad' about the comments of Ingenere. Sounds to me like he has a fairly objective viewpoint of the different manufactures competition to Ferrari. Please don't drone on about 'F1 World Championships'...blah,blah,blah...etc. If you are considering driving an F1-2004 on the road...well, then you would have a point. The real issue is: 'who is making the most exciting and performance orientated cars' today? An unblinkered viewpoint would lead one to at LEAST consider the fact that Lamborghini and even Mercedes are showing the way. It seems somewhat neurotic to read many of the 'an-ly retentive' comments of the Ferrari owner set, and to see them not address the facts, only disparage what are in fact better products. The new 612 is very disappointing in design, if not performance (compare the reality to the initial 'press' drawings.....what a missed opportunity). Have a drive of the new Gallardo, THEN tell me that the 360 is the better car. I love the 360, drive mine every week...but it is no longer the 'king'. To not hold Ferrari's 'feet to the fire' will not do them any good as a company. We should all be insisting that they strive to improve their products and address what other manufactures are offering in the market place. The Gallardo makes my 360 seem somewhat 'sterile'. To not acknowledge it as the better car at the moment is only 'blind loyalty'....and not objective assessment. If you choose to be blinkered to the facts....well, it is still a free country.

The bottom line is this! My 98 Lamborghini Diablo runs circles around my 512TR in every aspect, I mean night and day, and thats not just the extra 100 + hp advantage. Guess what, Ferrari current line up has been passed by their competiton in many ways, much like IBM was in the 1980s. Until you drive or own a Lamborghini for yourself, I guess some of you hard liners can continue living in your own false sense of reality, I know better now!

    As I have not owned a 360 I can't compare the two.

I am not saying Ferrari is not a lovely automobile, but I am saying don't knock the Lamborghini until you drive one for yourself!

Lets face it, we dont by Exotics to go to church in, do we?

    First picture:

Notice that the headlight cluster on the Murci uses the angulation of the front and looks in tempo with the rest of the front, neithere accentuation a new shape, nor hiding from view.

Notice that the Gallardo headlight cluster tries to create angulation where none is needed and just doens't work.

Notice, again, at the radiator inlets how the Murci ports work in tune with the angulation of the body while the Gallardo creates new little angulations that don't quite hold together.

    Second picture:

The flying butresses in the Murci sculpt the back end into a sinuous package, while the tail light cluster accentuates the width and smooth lines of the car. The only thing I really dislike about the Murci is the wide air scoop just behind the door near ground level. Its OK, but a little out of place, like the air scoops on the Countash that were not present on the LP400 prototypes.

The gallardo read butress don't quite work as well, and the whole rear end is a set of black/painted rectangles attempting to look like a checkered flag. With the tail light cluster wraping over onto the back deck, the whole back end just doens't work well.

Excellent analysis, Mitch. You've put a finger on that which I had not... and totally agree on the one bothersome element of the Murci.

Good pic. I like both brands myself and am glad to own one. Now, looking at this pic, which company has the "conservative" design?

Lambo has has come a long ways since the totally impractical and undriveable countachs. From a power perspective, Ferrari has lost ground, and power is a good measure of what an exotic is all about. However, the Ferrari in my opinion, still has been refined to a greater dergree, and though beauty is in the eye of the beholder, Lambos are "butt ugly"! The "kit car" looking body panels (OK F-40 owners), are asthetically harsh, despite a better "high tech" look than the Ferraris. The Lambo is also more exotic in the highly "unique looks" department. In the final analysis though, I think the Japanese weigh in profoundly. After all, there are no Japanese Lambo "knock offs".

Interesting point about the Japanese copying ferrrari. The Datsun 240Z was such a great Daytona "knock off"

The problem with Ferrari is that they Replaced the 512M with a Supra "knock off". I use to like it better when Japan copied Ferrari... instead of the other way around.

Now I give Lambo props for being the only company that continued the 512M development into the next generation exotic car (with a realistic price tag).

P.S. I do not mean to pick on the 550/575 it is a great car. I am just making a point about how most exotic fans would have loved to see ferrari do another exotic to replace the 512M instead of a retro or classic look.

The Holden HSV and the Ford Falcon Xr6 and Falcon GT's can't be that bad? Me? I'd lose my pulse before i step foot into a toyota (exception being supra TT and 90's MR2 turbos, all look to be be painfully boring/bland cars), lol. I'm a big fan of the falcons btw, and am still waiting for the day that they hit our shores. That Xr6 with a few simple modifications (to the tune of 400hp) would make for a nice daily driver and M3 killer.

Love the raging L vs F-car debate btw. *grabs popcorn* :D. Allanlambo/viperrocks getting owned by wayne on the 6th page was a classic. I wonder why he hasn't posted? Oh yeah, his cover was blown. Buwhaha.

Loved the Lambo/Fcar argument. As for Allanlambo, perhaps I missed the boat, but why can he no longer post? I think these arguments are perhaps the most interesting thing to ever happen on this forum. At some times everyone sounds like little girls arguing, but I find its the most interesting reading.

Posts which inspire no argument or contest nothing really don't accomplish anything. I see tons of stupid posts (this is an exagerration and wasn't an actual post) "WHAT IS YOUR FAVOIORITE COLOR". THese posts cease to educate anyone on the board about Ferrari in any way whatsoever. At least with Allanlambo's post of "DIABLO SV 1/4's in low 12's" or something similar I learn some statistic or figure or gain some car knowledge. But please lets keep away from non-factual based or personal arguments.

Agreed I have not seen all early posts.

And as to Ferrari being crap, I know better the 512TR is an awesome car, just not as good a car as my newer Diablo. As I stated, I can't speak for the 360s, for what it's worth I personaly find them to be a very attractive car, as do I find the 550 series which I will be soon adding to my stable. I do believe that Ferrari needs to pick up the power if they dont want to continue to loose people to other brands, maybe they dont need any more buyers. I can't answer that question. As performance goes my M5 BMW was very close to my 512TR for half the cost. I guess we all have our thing.

I have seen posts in the past few years discounting the Lambos to the point where I had know interest in going backwards. However, now that I own one I can say first hand that I moved forward and that they build a first rate car in every aspect!
