The most recent Autoweek (July 5) has an article entitled "You Break It, You Buy It". The jist is that certain car companies are putting "lifetime warranty restrictions" on customer vehicles if it is known that they are raced. We all well know that the typical track day dodge is that the events are not timed, and listed as drivers training, so all is well...

But, the article states that "Internal investigations aren't limited to autocrossing (where results are sometimes published on the web, and therefore "discoverable" by companies), but cover any activity deemed outside normal use, such as track days and plain old aggressive driving."

I know many drivers on this site own cars out of warranty (so no issue) and I'm not sure FNA would raise a stink, but I suspect many of us track not only our Ferraris but other cars as well.

My scanner is DOA, so if someone else could post this article it might make an interesting read.

The dealer and/or manufacturer would still have to prove that the track use caused the problem you are trying to have repaired under warranty.

I believe that Ferrari is just about the only company that doesn't void its warranty for track days. Porsche rolled over a while back.

    What's a warranty??? :)

Actually I've had nothing but trouble trying to claim ANYTHING on a warranty.

A steering knuckle snapped in two on my Pontiac Trans Am, thankfully, rolling to a stop sign. The right wheel became disconnected from the steering rack and took on a mind of it's own...GM? Examined the car for a MONTH and insisted it was wreck damage...WTF?

My insurance fixed it and charged me for a claim.....and started a file, last I heard they were up to six or seven suspect incidents...one poor girl rolled and was killed....

    There's your warranty........
