In February this year I ordered from my local Ferrari dealer new electric window switch surrounds as they had gone sticky again after only 2 years since I replaced them. They were not expensive, only about $17.00 each so I did not worry about Ferrari Policy of 3 years warranty of genuine Ferrari replacement parts. After 3 weeks these parts arrived only to find that the new parts were already sticky and the black rubbery coating was already come off on other fingers. The Ferrari spare parts salesman told me they would have to get some replacement ones in as it must have been a bad batch. After 4 months the replacement parts had arrived and today I took the faulty ones in to exchange them.
Here is where it gets interesting.
Ferrari told me that I would have to pay, for a second time, for the replace parts and the faulty ones would be sent back to Ferrari who would then decide if they refund me for the original faulty ones PLUS the replace parts had gone up from $38 for the pair to $131 for the pair. Classic !!! BUT THERE IS MORE !!!!! As I needed these parts I agreed to pay even though I had found out Ferrari had already charged my credit charge the $131 without asking me or my knowledge by using my stored credit card details from a previous purchase earlier in the year. BUT THERE IS MORE!!! Before taking parts I decided to check to make sure they were the correct parts and low and behold these replacement parts were also already sticky. The parts salesman told me that these replacement parts would have to be sent back to Ferrari for replacement. I cancelled my order and requested a refund of which they would have to organised a cheque.
Come on Ferrari. You don't replace a faulty part with another totally obvious part !!!!. Where is your QA!!!!!!!

Looks like you haven't been paying attention here. Sticky is the normal condition.

Either strip them yourself (not really too hard) or send them to StickyNoMore.

That really sucks when you think about it. :(

Anyway, it's a good thing the forum is here to put people in touch with solutions. :)

    All the best,
    Andrew.

I think even Daniel at Ricambi commented that oem parts can come already sticky (he tries to inspect them all before shipping to customers), which means Ferrari is still working off interior parts inventory from when the cars were made. If that is the case, there is no point ordering replacements...

You may get "lucky" on some that had ideal storage conditions, or Ferrari worked through the inventory and now has new, fresh inventory...but sounds like the safest, least risk is to work with Robbie at stickynomore.com

Am I understanding correctly that the F dealer won't refund you for the original order until the deffective parts are shipped back to Italy for inspection?
And despite the 'second' order also being defective?
The F dealer really needs to get its act together and just issue a refund for the both orders.

Just because Ferrari sent you"new" parts they are old stock stuff and have aged sitting on the self for 15+ years, so you should expect them to be as sticky as any switch that has been in a car for 15+ years.
New doesn't mean improved, just original - i.e. still crap.

For the most part all new ferrari parts for older models such as mine doesnt mean a good part. It means exactly what you had which was a bad part only in a new box. This is extremely common unfortunatly so please look to anyone but ferrari 1st with thorough research done accordingly or just keep buying "new parts" from italy that are new but inadequate.
Having parts made is a good idea & there are many alternatives here to achieve that or modify the old known bad part to make a good part. While fabrication may be costly it has been my experience that its still less than a "new" piece of junk from ferrari & a million times better quality. What I have found to be horrifying is that ferrari doesnt care at all, ever, not even a little bit that they are purveyors of inadequate parts for vehicles touted as esteemed rolling artwork by themselves, owners,& the enthusiasts that worship them.I tip my cap to all that have contributed to this site,Daniel@ Ricambi,Hill Engineering,Dave Helms etc for taking the quality of the parts & repairs to the level we owners expected in the 1st place & the mighty ferrari has seemingly fallen short on time & time again.Good Luck. -John

And the guys in Maranello still sit around wondering why the folks in Crewe are still churning out cars in a down economy...

New parts are same as old parts. When you get them, they probably aren't sticky because they haven't yet been exposed to the sun but it's only a matter of time before it happens.

I refinished all my sticky parts as documented here:

    http://www.ferrarichat.com/forum/showthread.php?t=359291

I also needed some new parts from Daniel and, altough they were perfect, I still soaked them overnight in easy-off, scrubbed them down and refinished them.

Seriously, some cars would destined for the scrap heap or relegated to meaningless garage art if it wasn't for engineers like Dave who are willing to spend the time and energy that Ferrari is not willing to do for their own heritage. Unfortunately there's not enough of them to go around. I'm lucky to get in a few hours here and there, even though behind the scenes its much more than that.

I have actually paid for the same item twice even though both sets were not excepted. F dealer told me they would send me a refund cheque. It will be interesting to see how long this will take and if they refund me for both sets or will I have to chase them for the full refund.

It’s hard to imagine why a Ferrari dealer would be so difficult to work with on any item especially something as inexpensive and these switch covers. I would think they would want us owners to be happy with them so we're more likely to bring our cars in for big ticket repairs and service.

    Poor business practices.
