I know someone has to know the "real" reason that at least 3x8s, TRr, and 355 have windows that don't go completely down or "hidden" into the door.

As an f-car owner, it bothered me at first but then I got used to explaining it to people, but I'd like to have a more technical/design reason to explain that little glass that never is "hidden" when windows go down.

By now, it's just a Pinafarina thing to me, but there must have been some descion to do it that way...

Things that make you go "Hmm...."

Simple. At least on the 328, the lift design they used isn't deep enough to allow the window to go all the way down. It's actually more about the window guide than the lift, it narrows too much at the bottom

    Eric,

Same thing for the 308, as Tillman has explained.

Not a problem for me- I was just curious about this ferrari "quirk"- I am very happy with the way it looks, but in any other car I want my window either up or down- not sticking up an inch :)

And everyone that has never been in a f-car asks and I have never had a good answer. Thanks for the info guys.

Even the windows on my 400i stick up 1/8" or so in the fully down position. Look on the bright side: It gives you something to grab onto so that you can raise your window manually if your window mechanism doesn't work!

Same goes for the 355. Take a close look at the side air intakes on the doors. It cuts into the space where the window would normally go.

I have a lot of my customers ask me why the rear windows on there wagons and Suvs don't go down all of the way. Many assume its for child safety, when it is the rear fender protrusion in the way of the window going all the way down. Same as with the 355, big scoop on the side stops the window travel. I suppose you could chop the top to solve the problem, shorter window would disapear in your door, or you could cut a slit in the scoop, or maybe just appreciate these cars for there beauty and not pick apart the details. Hang your arm out your Elcamino and drive your Ferrari.
