My Paint work is approaching the Complete stripping to bare metal stage and I want to yank all the glass.

    This is a Berlinetta

So the removal of the windshield and the rear side and rear glass.

If someone has taken out the side quarter glass and the rear glass please talk about that as well.

It appears the side glass is just urethane glued in but I would like to be sure of that by someone who has done it or had it done

The rear I take it just like a 3X8 rear glass so it should remove and install the same as that body style.

The windshield is the one that appears to be a pain in the ass even as easy as it is to cut the urethane the Trim just looks like a *****.

If anyone can describe removing the trim or has photos a how to would be sweet!

It appears to me the Metal trim and the Rubber outer trim are Glued in with the glass to the windshield frame.

    Can anyone confirm?

    Thanks

    Thanks guys

When I changed my windshield, everyone here told me that saving the trim was very difficult and I would probably have to pay 2k to get another one.

Luckily I found the local guy who does all the jobs on Ferraris. He charged me 500$ but he was able to save the trim.

It's been a couple of years but if I remember correctly, he used the actual windshield to push out the trim and it worked like a charm (he may have removed the bottom trim first but I cannot recall).

The windshield needed replacing so obviously it kept breaking more and more as he did this. Not sure if this can be done when the windshield needs to be reused?

Prosourceglassintl has the original 355 piklington Sigla windshield with mirror clip & antenna for less than 1000$. It may be worth sacrificing your windshield if it breaks in order to save the trim since the trim is harder to find and it's double the price.

I bought the tools to take a stab at it, but ended up hiring pros to R&R. One mistake would have been too costly.

Did you guys take any photos of the trim up close or if it was glued to the glass?

I kinda get him pushing the glass out to get the trim out without breaking it.

It looks like that would work.

The trim is a kind of back-to-back "C" channel affair, with a metal finishing trim.

As has already been written, the trim goes over the windshield to form an assembly, and then the assembly (glass and trim) is bonded to the aperture with Betaseal, or other proper windshield urethane adhesive. Don't use silicone, for reasons that can be googled.

Below, some photos. "Internal" C takes the glass, external channel takes the Betaseal.

Going slightly off-topic, the reason I know this (and have the parts) is that I was sick of the ugly delamination around the edges of the windscreen. So I decided to get the glass changed and trim too because the trim was discoloured and was irritating me.

Anyway, the reason for the long story is that when the screen came out, the shop found a tremendous amount of corrosion on the upper cross member. Basically, water was getting in, but not out. So now the car's now at the body shop having the repair done. I've also sourced a new upper cowl panel which will be welded in. I've added a pic of that too...

Also, I would be very, very interested in a "HOW-TO" for the back glass. That is delaminating too on my car and I'm thinking now about getting that changed too.
