    Hi Guys,
I finally finished the steel work and fitted Grant's canvases into the frames and took some pictures. There are a large number of artwork threads lately, and I just couldn't resist posting some photos! Grant sent me three different canvases, so I took pictures using all three, with both black and silver steel work. I'm not sure which combination I like the best.

I'm also thinking of trying it with flat-black paint to see if that improves the sharpness of the GTO graphic. Any thoughts?

    Thx...

and thankyou Thor for starting the thread... and for your work in metal.
    the finished pieces look great.

Combining tech (Macintosh-AdobeIllustrator-plasma cutter) and hand-work (paint-on-canvas). I find the combination alot of fun.

    I am utterly speechless...
The emotion and feeling that these exude is just incredible.. so much more that drawing of a car or such...

Grant, you produce Automotive Art... everyone else: "Drawings or Pictures of Cars". And I think you should be recognized more for what you produce... The quality of your work is above reproach...

Some would just see "splashes of paint... anyone can do that..." but i know from first hand experience, the talent and know-how that goes into producing those "splashes of paint". It can be a quite a thing... more than anyone not "in the biz" can possibly imagine...

Congrats to you and Thor on becoming quite a team... looking forward to seeing more... Grant, you were talking to me about the "next F1". Can we see pleeeeeeease????

    Astounded once again...
    F.

ps... not to nag... but remember us about the whiteboard thing... anything to show?

    Nice....absolutely nice! :)

    @Frank,
I'm nothing but an amateur "in the biz" since I've only been doing drawings of cars for like 30 years, and I've only been a proffessional painter since January 1987 and I'm not very talented at painting ......but I would do similar splashes of colours on canvas with one hand tied behind my back and both eyes closed! Not that I don't like them, they are actually very pretty colours, but they are fairly easy for most kids to produce!
The beauty in these works are to me the "controversial mariage" between the multi colored canvas and the raw steel, and the outstanding job done by Thor in cutting out that beautiful frame to this high standard!
Also it seems to me that a lot of the adult art interested people on this forum are in fact interested in "everyone else's drawings and pictures of cars"

    Kind regards

    Carsten

    Hi Carsten!
Thanks for the compliment. It means a lot coming from you.

I love your drawings, in fact I'm trying to coerce Tina into trading a simple copy of one of your sketches for a 24" Cavallino, but I don't know what your drawings go for. Not an original, just a copy. Am I even in the ball park?

    You're welcome Thor, :)
You did the hard work in this, and deserve the credits!

Thanks a lot for your compliment! :)

You are doing a great job with these sculptures and steel artworks, so please keep up the nice work! Both Tina and I love the Cavallino you made :)
........I should say you're definately IN the ball park!!! :)

    Best regards

Hi Guys, As a note, this sculpture is up for auction on eBay along with one of the new Formula-1 Race Car pieces in case you don't want to order it directly from Grant and I.

i wanted to wait to respond to this until after i spoke to Frank directly...

Frank, i have told you before that there are other Artists on this Website and to consider that when posting. You have come close before, but this time you overstepped a line.
I, too, produce automotive Portraits and consider them Artwork as well, and to have them belittled, or thought of as less than Art, i find offensive, as other Artists that produce such works, would rightly think as well.

That kind of kudos - at the expence of other Artwork or Artists - i do not need, require or want.

I strongly request you be mindful of this, if you wish to post regarding Artwork in the future.

    Thankyou.

    Hi Guys,
Let's try and keep this on a positive note.

I think we all realize art is an emotional subjective thing, and not everyone is going to agree on what they like. Heck, we can't even agree on which Ferrari is the most significant. We can all agree on one thing here on FerrariChat, though... Ferrari's are cool!
