    Hey Brian or anyone else considering this..............I'd love to do this once in my life.............I've had the 308 and most recently the 348SS, however, I sold the 348 and now am holding out for a 360............If anyone is interested in having a passenger and splitting the entry fee, I might be up for that!!! Sounds like a great time, and if the 12 G's is worrying you, 6 G's is a lot easier to handle...........P.S. I'm 30 and Steve Rochlin and I seem to share many of the same mind sets. :)

    Feel free to P.M. me or respond here.

    thanks!!!

    Hey Markus,

    One suggestion, how about another players run website for us MARRIED GUYS. ( example:www.playersrun2004.com ) WITHOUT all the beautiful women!!
    (I cant believe I just wrote that !, someone smack me! )

    It would be alot easier convincing the wife that this is "ALL ABOUT CARS" and awesome driving events because I know she will want to know what it's all about.

    Personally, I was going to suggest to her that this would be a great birthday present for a guy who has everything! What better gift ?

    Anyhow, this might be funny.. but I'm serious...
    I'm sure a few of us married guys would pitch-in for the domain costs..

    redrocks, yes there is mechanical support with us and several on the way. We also set up a 'net' of locations on the way ,so in a worst case you should still be able to get the car fixed and continue the run ( maybe you will lose some sleep though ;o) ).

    So something a LITTLE sick is ok? jk.
    Markus: I just sent the 'application' from your site, didnt even know about the thread on here. Also, I saw on your site about sponsors. I may attempt to get a suspension company or two to sponsor my car, if they agree should I just email you to ask first? I see that 'future328driver' mentioned ad space but I'm not sure if he was serious. And I know you've mentioned that the criteria is selective, so would me quite possibly being one of the only domestics help? ;)
    Like I mentioned in the email I'm going to try and get ahold of something else, but the Stang is last resort and I'm definitely willing to try this as it sounds like a week to remember. I guess it all comes down to you saying "ok" and me coming up with the $ to send over ;)

    Aside from that though, high speed police escort? That alone is a great selling point. Looks like you've done a lot of work on this. Congrats and hope to see you and everybody else in June.

    I know the race starts in NYC on June 5. I'd love to go watch the beginning in the city, can anyone tell me at which hotel and when it will start? I'd really appreciate it.

    Its been a couple of a couple of a couple days... (just a friendly nudge ;) )...

    For those thinking about this, here's some math
    using Mapquest numbers (very conservative times):

    0461mi 07h11' = NY->Cleveland
    0343mi 05h19' = Cleveland->Chicago
    0529mi 08h07' = Chicago->KC
    0601mi 09h00' = KC->Denver
    0156mi 03h45' = Denver->Aspen
    0633mi 10h35' = Aspen->Las Vegas
    0270mi 04h04' = Las Vegas->LA
    =========
    2993mi 48h01' = NY->...->LA

    If you drive to/from the event,
    then roughly you might double the distance,
    or for a typical displacement, here's from Dallas:

    1572mi 24h31' = Dallas->NY
    2993mi 48h01' = NY->...->LA
    1434mi 22h19' = LA->Dallas
    =========
    5999mi 94h51' = Dallas->NY->LA->Dallas

    That should have my Stradale fully broken-in! ;)

    jmiles, we start at 10am in the morning at Times Square, NY. The official hotel for the night of the 4th of June is the W on Times Square.

    We will announce all hotels very soon so you can come over and watch the cars if you want to.I also got a pm about the hotel in Chicago. The overnight stop in Chicago is the Peninsula.

    Okay, I'll be blatant - I am interested in this run, I have yet to do anything like it.

    I am a decent driver, have driven several exotics, I think the only ones I have yet to drive are the F-50s, F-40s and Enzos, along with the Murcielago and Gollardo.

    I am a gal who happens to be an enthusiast for these cars, and an athletic redhead to boot. Yes, at least a 308 looms in the horizon for me, just not yet.

    Since I'm a writer/artist in comic books, animation and children's books by trade, this would thrill me to no end!

    A first hand experience by me would not only be fun, but I'd be able to relay my experience to children in a fun way, something of which I think is lacking for kids today - a way they get caught up in the fun, and get them pried away from the video games!

    I do not drink or party much, I prefer to experience things without a fog layer the next day.

    Regardless or not of my active participation, I look forward to the event!

    Markus,
    This is Ryan Sabga, owner of iconoclast. I met with John last week about the event. We are trying to figure whether or not it would be worth doing the event this year. I would like to talk to you more about some of this stuff. Come by the new dealership at 1825 Blake Street when you have the chance or call me a 303 534 4266.

    Interesting article on the 'art' of these rallies.

    'Yet another reason to hate the rich. Depraved rock stars and party-hearty Playmates in overpowered Toadmobiles are our betters, and as they careen across America we must bow before their power.'

    I am sure that I could get the interest of some Playboy/Penthouse models, if I felt like it, so what's their point?

    Aren't we all people wanting to have a good time? And what's wrong with an Emerald brooch thong, btw? For crying out loud, you wear a brooch on your shoulder, lmao!

    We should all be so lucky. But we aren't. The article seems to be to me rather racist and condenscending to anyone who'd even dreamed of doing anything like this.

    "Child-killing machines" what's up with that!? More kids are killed by regular automobiles ans SUVs.

    This writer has serious issues...not sure why.

    As a writer myself, I thought you were supposed to write about a subject objectively, but this person pours poison in almost every sentence!

    Oh, well. Maybe he's just jealous.

    Ryan, I will stop by on Monday !
    We are officially closed now except for a couple more Ferraris, Lamborghinis and Supercars. If you want to do this then you have to decide NOW. If you do not drive one of these cars talk to Byron, he has a couple more spaces left for this rally. If you really cannot decide until last minute ( April 30th ), then you still have can get in...for a 35% late fee...not too smart to chose this option ;O)

    Richard, objective writing is not a myth, if you give equal time and points on both sides!

    Most people do tend to be biased, that is true.

    But the mark of a skilled writer is to give balance to that as much as possible.

    If I have the opportunity say, to go on the Player's Run, it would be written from my perspective mostly. But I would go out of my way to include: meeting the other drivers; the supporting mechanic crew and how they are doing, along with others I'd meet on the way.

    From my POV, it would be how exciting how things I have never done were! What if I could not only relay that to other adults, but to kids? I believe that there are parts of this that kids would totally get a kick out of!

    I guess I would be biased - from all the fun to be had, and to write about this once in a lifetime experience!

    - Julie
