Rob - I'm pretty heavily involved in the ERP software biz... so take this comment with a grain of salt. Is Fchat running on MySQL? I've found the scalability of MySQL to be pretty lacking when it comes to high transaction/high volume environments. I've never been comfortable with it's enterprise-class stability. Does your host have CAL's for MS-SQL2000? Would the board run on a proper SQL database or even better on something like DB2 for Intel or Oracle? -Daniel
Rob, I posted a thread called, "Cool Garage doormat...where to buy?" yet when I click on it I get a Ferrarichat.com database problem, etc...please hit your refresh button...and this doesn't work. Please email me at or call me at 973.884.9161 Thanks! TTG
I'm getting the same trying to access the "DANGER! ATTN: 550 Owners!!" thread. MyExperience has been that MySQL is MyWordWhatAHog. BTW: this isn't coming out in the rite colour
Rob FWIW, I did mention to you a while back that the MYSQL database and Vbulletin software would start falling over all the time if you continued to store all images on your server. As mentioned before, this has happened to other forums as well, your problem is not unique. Thiey have resolved the problem by trimming the database and ceasing the hosting of further images locally.
This has nothing to do with it. Our images aren't stored in the database. MySQL of course isn't as slick as Oracle or DB2 or SQL server. MySQL is just freeware and works great for small applications. We are still pretty small compared to Enterprises. vB can't work on any Db but MySQL right now, but the software is expanding and the company is doing well, so there may be some other options in the coming years.
Current Fix List... 1) Red X on footer for "FerrariChat.com Statistics" now fixed 2) Get custom styles working properly again. now fixed 3) MySQL going down and auto restart not working. 4) Image verification for new registrations not appearing. temp fix by turning image verification off 5) Some threads receiving database error when accessing. ran a database cleanup. All appear to be working again. 6) Error on log out.
To see your own image index: Hit; User Options > User Control Panel (opens new page) > Attachments (below Miscellaneous on bottom left)
After every time I post it comes up and gives an error message. However, when I go back and reload the page, it shows that my post has gone through.
It gives me this message: There seems to have been a slight problem with the FerrariChat.com database. Please try again by pressing the refresh button in your browser. An E-Mail has been dispatched to our Technical Staff, who you can also contact if the problem persists. We apologise for any inconvenience.
Also, although there are several newer threads in a certain forum, it still shows on the main page older threads as the as the most recent / updated (even though they aren't). So for some reason, newer posts on threads aren't showing up on the main home screen.
MySQL has been upgraded to the latest 4.0.20 version. I will let you know how many of our problems this solves. Shouldn't take long to find out as we were getting corrupt data every 3-4 hours and the server would go down every 1-2 days. Thanks for you patience, rob
Looks like the database (server) is still having issues. Maybe the traffic spike after the USGP got to it? (I especially like the DB error while trying to search for the thread about DB errors -- how Orwellian. )
A big problem with Saturday was I had such little access in Indy and didn't do a Db cleanup as quick as I usually do. Everything should be clear right now. I am disappointed the Db upgrade hasn't resolved some of our corruption issues. I'm still working on the root causes and getting closer.
