We all love Ferraris and racing correct? And we all would like to own a Ferrari race team. Here is your chance... a mere donation to me, say $1000.00 and I will put your name on my yet unbought Ferrari 430 Challenge for the 2009 Challenge series. This is a limited time opportunity so get in before everyone else... I am looking to get about 500 chatters... hurry... space is filling up fast.... dont regret not having your place in racing history....

    Christopher :)

    Great and nice idea,

I was pushing also another idea with the French guys of this web site, could be interresting to think about both, but why can't we as ferrari chatters push to get ferrari spa (or Michelotto) involved again in the production of a pure club car racing machine?

I was trying to came back to my passion: F40 Lm or 333 sp, but no way for raisonable financial aspects and methodology to use it as a normal track days' car for fun.

Have a look on the new Radical SR8 LM for example (http://www.radicalsportscars.com), excepting that such car is not having a nice reliable engine, what a fantastic car having two seats to get pure pleasure on a track during club days! and if you add that such car is available for 75 to 85 000 €, what a toy (Nordschleiff record as well)

Same with Norma (http://pagesperso-orange.fr/sportracer/) M20 3 liter, nice car, but BMW 6 cylinders, a lot of results in several competition worldwide (75 000 €!).

    Same with Ligier js 51: 90 000 € ready to race (http://www.endurance-info.com/article.php?sid=6663).

    So the idea should be:

sport proto concept (same as 333 sp)
two seats (for sympathetic use during track days of several ferrari clubs)
V8 engine (let says 430 scuderia engine, 510 hp, same gear management, same usage, you turn the key and you go!)
    650 to 750 max kg
slicks or intermediate "normal" size tires to get access to "normal" tires market (18" for example)
    Red with cavallino
Easy removable parts (frame, ...) for easy and "cheap" cost repairs

And if the car is competitive, why not having a real racing car challenge such as radical, ligier, porsche.....

    Just tell me your feeling.

    Thank you gentlemen

$1,000 x 500 = $500,000... enough to fund a Challenge car, Challenge race fees, tires, wheels, transportation, hotel, etc for an entire season... smart idea, but how to get 500 ppl who have a grand to spare to get their name on your Challenge car? In addition, how large of graphics are we to see our names in for our $1,000? A 3/4" x 6" block? Does the $1,000 fee remain should an individual's name be partially or mostly covered by FC livery which cannot be interfered with (ie: Pirelli or Shell icon logos)? Would we get a choice of colors for our name(s) to be in or who would it be up to? How about placement and any increasing fee amounts for a location of prominance (front bumper, rear bumper, roof edge)? Not being critical, just simply asking. :)

    Side note:

Rules for FC in case anyone needed them for advertising and livery and whatnot: http://www.ferrarichallenge.com/assets/2008_F430_rules.pdf

only one major problem with this Idea, "NO MEDIA EXPOSURE".

the events are not televised, and only rarely do they have an event with a major series where there are lots of people that come out to see them.
(like when they run a race as a pre-event to an F1 race)

As much as I love the series and even the Historic cars, there is just not nearly enough exposure for any kind of sponsorship

But they never intended it to be that way.

    Best regards, Jim

Great idea, but you wouldn't be in the left seat. :D We have some great talent on FerrariChat.com, everyone from aspiring youth like Michael Johnson to weekend warriors like Mark McKenzie. Look how well Mark did this year as a rookie and visiting tracks for first time, I can't wait to see his run next year. I think he can only be beat by cars that don't quite sound like the others and blow bullet proof engines.

I heard it's around a $1 million a season to run all races and then the final round in Italy anyway. It's $250K for the car, but that's just the beginning.
Also, these drivers are amateurs with lots of money and they are crashing cars all over the place. I was at Homestead last year and at least 6 cars got into some kind of $30K incident (front and rear bumpers gone, radiators, head lights, etc.)
One car got totaled. The driver had a replacement the next day. So, I don't think $500K will do it. I am sure there is someone on Fchat that can give you an exact figure.

    Check out Ron Adams video.

I don't know, but think $1 M would be worse case if you totaled a couple cars and did a bunch of testing. The 430 C cars have held their value well, so in theory I think at $30k a race weekend and selling your car at end of season only be out about $300k. I bet the average is more like $500k and then solo effort type teams Scott Tucker has spend several million.

Too much talk not enough checks being sent in! Actually guys I was only joking when I suggested this. I am very upset that some of you presuppose that I wont be fast! ha ha! I am still accepting checks... I am up to $1000.00 so far.... nearly there.... I did notice that the drivers in the challenge series dont seem to care about crashing into each other... who are the stewards for these races? Are they penalized? I think it would be interesting for the driver responsible to have to pay for the other guys car based on the opinions of the stewards. I am really good at bumping into cars at races(scca) so I think my chances of winning the challenge in North America and Italy is very good! I would like to hear from an actual challenge racer to know his experiences...
