Yes, I'm aware and can't stand "responsive" designs. :) I'm pretty certain, in this thread, I already posted screen shots that this does not work, no matter which way I turn my phone. Just checked again, it does not work :(

Is there any way to still view all my subscribed threads? When you go to "watched threads" they disappear from the list once you've "read" the most recent post already.

EDIT - I found it.... at the bottom of watched threads list there is a "Show All" link.... so this is now my bookmark for FChat: http://www.ferrarichat.com/forum/watched/threads/all

Also, there is any way now when you upload a photo for it to display in your post rather than it being a thumbnail below?

You point is good one ... yes, if the original linked photo is changed, the link is then broken. That can be issue. But there are benefits to being able to link to a URL for an image:
    • You don't have to upload a file. Depending on your subscription level that might run into problems if you are exceeding your file quota.
    • It is less stuff for Ferrari Chat to keep on their servers. Maybe not a huge deal these days, but in the past storage could be more expensive.
    • Generally, at least IMO, when you link to a photo's URL, you are trying to make a point about something and for the most part, after a a few weeks, the point is not as relevant. Of course, if one believes that the photo is important and should be preserved, then linking should not be use but upload the file instead.
By the way ... I like the changes you all are making and have now set up my profile to use the new style. I am still not a huge fan of the color scheme but the features and ease of use are looking really good for me.

Server space is "cheap." I hope Rob's longstanding philosophy of having images be part of the permanent archive of FChat remains that way. Better to have the image/photo context to refer back to for research on cars, without depending on "free hosting" sites with no sustainable biz model. Users might find it handy but long term FChat is better off not permitting that sort of image post.

Steve, I actually find it much easier to directly upload an image vs uploading an image to a hosting site and posting a link.

Well, sometimes I find an image I want to share and to upload it, I have to first download it from the web and then upload it. But, that is not big deal, just a bit easier to copy the URL and paste the link ...

But all that said, I checked and F-Chatters of Silver subscribed or higher have unlimited attachments. So, my earlier reasoning is flawed. The advantage of having the image always part of the thread is significant. I guess I need to change my ways.

Steve - it's all good. I guess I post 99% of my own images so it's different. No worries :)

For the "We're live with the new FerrariChat.com!" banner that appears at the top of every screen, can that be changed to make it A LOT more concise and to provide clickable links instead of text URL's so you don't have to cut & paste the URLs into a browser. It should be really short, like "The current bug list and status is posted here (thread link with simple name like "bug list/status"). If you want to report something not yet identified in the bug list, post it here (thread link with simple name instead of full URL)."

After that you can add a short note about changing to old style, but that text should also be reworded to make it more concise and to correct the instructions because the "style chooser" is actually in the bottom left of the page, not the bottom right as currently stated. Also, it isn't easy to find the "style chooser" because nothing on the page actually says "style chooser", the field you need to click only says "FerrariChat - Old" or "FerrariChat - New", so it would be better to point to the style name text to make that field easier to find. The only time you see the actual term "Style Chooser" is when you hover the mouse over the correct field, and wait for the pop-up, but that doesn't help at all when you are trying to find the field.

Also, the name of this thread should probably be changed from "FerrariChat.com update - Tonight/Tomorrow" to a name that implies that this is the place to report issues. The current thread title does not imply that at all.

PS: The 5-minute edit window also kind of sucks (IMO :))

I have come around to the new style as I like the layout and navigation ... but, please do one thing. When viewing a forum, you are using normal weight black font to indicate threads in the forum that do not have new content ... and you are using bold weight red font to indicate threads in the forum with new content. Please change the red font and exchange for a different color. Perhaps, even a darker shade of red like maroon. The bright red font indicates warning or danger and is not easy on the eyes. If you want to call attention, it only needs to be a different color from your normal font color. Give it a try and see what the response is.

    Best regards,

    Steve

haven't figured out how to post clickable links in it yet. I wanted several days just introducing the new site, those are the two most important threads right now. I am going to remove it until we start the week 1 poll in few more days. FYI you realize you can remove it by closing it out?

I agree to change it, but I bet we have more problems now because unfamiliar name. Very active threads like this usually don't do well with a name change.

The reds are a branding thing, that came from corporate designers. However, we are doing two new color versions of the new style.

I think it is helpful to have the banner there. I've been using the new site since it opened and still wasn't sure where to post issues. If the URL's can't be made clickable, I think that's much less of an issue than the text being not clear at all to somebody who just wants to glance at it and immediately to know where to go (that pretty much describes everyone). If you make the text a lot more concise, that will help a lot.

I didn't know you could make that banner go away. I'm actually fine with leaving it there for a while, but definitely think the text needs to be tightened to something as brief as in my first post.

    Upgrade button ?
I am currently Silver, so clicked on the "upgrade" button.
Seems I only have 1 choice.
There should be a button/selection if I want to upgrade to Rossa ?
    THIS might affect incoming revenue.
