Dave - can you post a screen shot of a post (such as you did with "The Mayor") using the "classic theme"? One with your current Fchat Avatar would be great. I'm not not loving the allocation of real estate giving priority to "subscribed" vs. avatar. Thanks.
Rob, will all of our inbox and sent PM messages get transferred over to the new system or should we download our PMs this week before the cut-over? Thanks. .
I would download if not too much trouble, but for the most part they copy over. XenForo does it different where you don't have PM's like email, but "Conversations" like a private thread. I think users will like this small group or individuals they have a bunch of back and forth with. However, XenForo doesn't handle sent copies or folders, because as a thread your messages will always be in the thread. So everything being copied over, but doesn't work the same way.
Thanks, I'll download them. For those users that don't know how to download your PMs, at the bottom of the Private Messages page are some links for: Download all Private Messages as: XML - CSV - Txt Just click on each of those choices and you'll get a download file in your PC's download folder in either XML format, Comma Separated Values (spreadsheet format), or Plain Text. The files will be named using your fchat user name, for example, one of my files for today is named: privatemessages-toggie-08-31-2017.csv Each file contains all of your current Inbox and Sent PM messages. These files are easily searchable on your PC to look up old PM messages. .
Like Dave Rocks, my personal feeling is that new avatars in the circular and square format will diminish the value proposition for sponsors. If our avatars and signatures are no different in size/format/layout than a standard subscriber, our ability to capture eyeballs is lessened. As most folks know, the sponsors of this board don't measure the relationship with this community through banner-ad clickthrough. The sponsors of the board measure the value here through branding and in-thread exposure.
Probably most users would ask to go back to Pininfarina designs. The same ones that complained about the latest Pininfarina designs. I think it looks better, has more functions (like button, no need to quote to type a "+1"...) but also looks less "practical": lots of space dedicated to secondary things (subscription, date of registry, etc...). And probably the sponsors will want their avatars more visible. But hey, change is the spice of life.
We'll have to test if there can be different avatar sizes or how the rectangle ones look. If we're stuck with the small round avatars, then I will make sure you get more in signature.
I like the giant panoramic avatars for Rossa and sponsors. Round works for people's faces but not cars... Will see how it goes. Robb
Glad you are keeping a format that replicates "old" style. I'm not a fan of some of the newer bulletin software (although understand that vBulletin support is non existent).
Just curious...when I read "no longer supported" I assumed Vbulletin was out of business but I took a look at their site and they seem to still be around. I'm guessing this revision is no longer supported. Is the new versions just no good? I'm asking because I just don't know - I have no experience with forum software systems. Thanks.
There are a number of issues with the newer stuff. There are threads here on it, but as I recall there are QC issues as the company was acquired and moved in a different direction with its focus. D
Got it - thanks, Dave. I'm on a few forums and I can honestly say, Fchat (IMO) has the best interface of them all (visually and navigation). I'm also not a fan of mobile views and Fchat works great on my iphone

we're thinking Thursday starting 6 am Central, but I will confirm that in a little and how long it should last. thanks.
Here's the timeline: FerrariChat will be closed from 8 PM Central tonight to about Midnight for switch to new server still old software. FerrariChat will then be closed again from 6 AM Central until tomorrow afternoon for the conversion to new software. There will be a day or so after conversion for us to get everything configured right, but forum will mostly be open.
Is there a way to download an entire forum thread from the old system? I'd like to have it offline during the migration as was planning to read all weekend. Thanks.
