If any little thing changes, we usually get blamed for not talking about it ahead of time. I think this one will have a minor impact. We are changing our network ad provider. Below is how it will eventually be setup, there may be bugs first few days, but we'll get them resolved.
    • Silver, Rossa, Honorary, and Lifetime Subscribed users won't see any ads except the high center ad that is direct sponsors only.
    • All other users will see extra network ads between some posts and forums, also a sticky footer ad that can be closed. The number of network ad placements has not changed.
    • Hopefully for all users there are no more of those annoying redirect ads like we sometimes experienced mobile.
Let me know if questions or you see any problems.

FYI Tapatalk or Mobile App users may still see some network ads even if subscribed, the above only applies to desktop and mobile browser users.

    Thanks,
    rob

Hey Rob - can you please be sure to add sponsors to the "subscibed" group that won't see adds?

BTW - I actually would like to see sponsor banner adds.

well, I'm mixed about this. wouldn't you like to see if any outside competitors were doing ad buys through the network? companies are able to bid on ads through the network and although that isn't likely to happen, it is possible. It either has to be on or off for all sponsors. My suggestion is if you can learn to deal with it sponsors leave it on just in case they see companies that need to be blocked.

That's a fair point but I would rather not. Mostly on mobile as it takes up a lot of room and I keep needing to click those X's to close.

OK, we’ll probably do a poll for sponsors.

The ads are annoying and take up most all of the screen, cause massive delays in the page loading and constant page shifts as the ad cycles. Makes mobile useless and a chore to visit. Image Unavailable, Please Login

    Hi Rob,

    Thanks for the heads up.
I am getting the sticky footer ad on each page on my laptop. That is to say; on the main ferrarichat.com page (I haven't gone to the home page yet), on the Vintage page, any Vintage thread, etc. etc.
So in essence, my experience is it follows me on every page and I would need to X out of it every time I change a page.

My question is- Will it always work like this or is there a way I can surf differently that does not require me to click out of it on each page I visit?
    Thanks very much,

    Dave

we are exploring ways to cancel out the bottom ad for the entire session. however, the network ad company indicates user behavior gets use to it and hardly anyone cancels it eventually. it is getting more attention now because it is different than the old footer ad, but users eventually get use to it (ignore it).

the options to remove ad are to subscribe or you can research adblockers.

FYI I'm going to submit the request to remove Sponsors from seeing the ads, the downside to this is your competitors will be able to advertise on FerrariChat and in more placements than you and you will never know. Of course only guests and nonsubscribers will see this, not our core active subscribed users.

I've been trying to just ignore them and get used to it, as I understand that the ad revenue is critical to keeping the site going (and of course I could always pay to subscribe), but these new ads really suck. The bottom ad takes up a significant chunk of real estate. The fact that they continually reload is distracting at best and hella irritating at worst when they re-arrange the messages I'm trying to read as they reload.
